Version: PortableApps Suite (Standard Edition) 1.0

"All programs you need, when you need them"

    by Ash_Rulez on November 28, 2006

    Pros: 1) Free.

All programs are full versions, either Open Source or Freeware, containing no Spayware or Adware.

    #

    2) Useful.

Newest office suite, web browser, email client, calendar and task manager, instant messaging client for all protocols, even antivirus and automatic backup of your data is included.

    #

    3) Mobile.

All programs run seamlessly from any portable device: extract the suite to your iPod or flash drive, take them anywhere you go and whenever you need them plug it in any computer and the programs run without any necessary installation. But with a beautiful start menu where you can choose any application easily. And you can even add other portable programs to this menu, there are many more available!

    #

    4) Cool.

You can show all the cool new stuff to any of your friends without installing or changing anything or their computers: just plug your iPod into their PCs and show them how easy cou can open MS Office files or OpenDocuments, save them as PDF and send them with your mobile email client.

    #

    5) Xmas.

Just buy a nice 512 MB flash drive for 20 bucks, extract the suite and you are finished: the perfect present for your parents and kids, so they can surf the web, email and open documents securely, easy and comfortable without the hassle to install every single program.

And even when the computer crashes again, you don't have to reinstall every program: just plug the flash drive in!

The Kaspersky issue was a known false positive with the old definitions last week. They've already corrected their mistake and if you recheck it, you'll see that it was always clean.

Kaspersky found a trojan Horse in this file!

    There`s 3 troyans in GaimPortable.

If you really need some of the apps in the suite, just unpack the exe file after downloading with 7-zip and get rid off of the troyans with Kaspersky anti-virus. It wont let you kill troyans otherwise.
