Version: PocketMirror Professional 2.2.4
Cons: Simply does the same thing that active synch does except much slower. In the process, it also removes the atl.dll from C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar in Vista, corrupts the registry, requiring re-registering of dlls (fix here: http: / /forums.techarena.in/vista-help/656006.htm) and upon uninstall duplicates everything in your pst file regardless of following the instructions regarding synching previous to completing the uninstall.
Active Sych stinks, but this compounds its shortcomings an make inexcusable registry and file system changes. Steer clear of this pseudo-malware.

Version: PocketMirror Professional 2.2.4
Cons: Here's what I'm trying to sync using PocketMirror:
Exchange Server Calendar (usual work meetings, etc.)
Exchange Server Contacts (6)
Exchange Server Tasks (1)
Personal Folder Calendar (usual personal stuff like birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)
Personal Folder Contacts (1696)
Personal Folder Tasks (59)
In the past five months, PocketMirror has successfully sync'd twice in a row maybe four times.
Most consistently I get the dreaded:
"PocketMirror has detected that you are synchronizing with the same mailbox at a different PC from which you last synchronized. To ensure your data is safely handled, PocketMirror will ask if you want to Combine or Replace the data on your handheld with this PC."
If you select "No" you're done - no sync. If you select "Yes" you get the even more dreaded:
"The following information type on your mobile device has items that have not been synchronized with this computer before.
Information Type: PocketMirror Calendar, PocketMirror Contacts, PocketMirror Tasks
O Combine the items on my device with the items on this computer.
O Replace the items on my device with the items on this computer.
O Do not synchronize this information type at this time."
If you select "Combine" you will end up with duplicates of just about every calendar item - be prepared to spend days cleaning up. And remove duplicates programs will either not remove most of the duplicates or will remove ALL of your calendar items particularly recurring events.
If you select "Do not synchronize" you'll be lucky if the sync just doesn't do anything. More often I've had the partnership between the mobile device and Outlook removed without warning, causing irretrievable loss of databases from both the phone and the laptop.
If you select "Replace" most often PocketMirror will sync for a while then just hang... yes, for days without completing. If you reboot the computer and mobile device repeatedly, like 6-7 times, sometimes PocketMirror will magically sync one time.

Pros: no wires, syncs over wireless.
Cons: doubles the data, same as active sync. not worth the purchase

"Would not install properly, corrupted registry"
Pros: Free trial - I lost only time, not money.
Cons: Would not install properly in my entirely straightforward/hardware software environment, corrupted registry during install, does not uninstall properly.
Summary: I had previously used this companies Palm to Windows migration software - pricey for what it did, but it worked, so was justified as a saving and time/aggravation. PocketMirror was awfully expensive for the one thing I needed to do - maintain multipl... read more
