"Terrible. Don't waste your time with this download"

    July 8, 2009  |   By barbee00

    Version: PocketMac for BlackBerry 4.1.25

    Pros

It's free, so that's something. It won't sync with blackberry curve, but it's free notheless.

    Cons

Simple....it does not work. Won't sync with BB curve. Hit the sync button and it will sit there forever syncing. Even with the patch downloaded, it still doesn't work. Junk....but free junk.

"Worst software ever!!! one word: TERRIBLE"

    March 16, 2009  |   By cmarquezv

    Version: PocketMac for BlackBerry 4.1.25

    Pros

    None whatsoever.

    Cons

Stalls, freezes, doesn't recognize the device. Wasted time installing and re-installing software and software updates over and over.

    Summary

The product is not totally developed and it needs to be revised by a RIM quality control personnel. It is a shame that RIM, after revolutionizing telecomunications with the Blackberry invention, gives so little attention to product development and support. absolutely not recommended.

    "Junk Software"

Don't know what possessed RIM to destroy their reputation with Mac users, but this software is total junk and a waste of time. Free doesn't matter when something does not work.

PocketMac for BlackBerry is cruel torture for those of us stuck in cell phone contracts waiting for an iPhone.

If you are using a Blackberry with Macintosh, so yourself a favor and buy Mark/Space Missing Sync for Blackberry. After 8 months fussing with PocketMac, I installed Missing Sync half an hour ago, and now everything is lovely for the very first time since I got the Blackberry.

This software simply does not work.

Apple should address the problem since blackberries are now the perferred device.

(No need to go on about Palm because it's common knowledge that they don't work either and probably won't be around in 5 years.)

I finally got missing sync working with Leopard and I am FREE!! Of this absolutely useless horrible program that cost me countless hours of headache with zero support response. I think they're a rogue company set up by Apple to force people off the Blackberry and onto the iPhone. Nothing else explains this astoundingly maddening disaster of a program.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS!!!!

This program is an embarrassment. What year is it 1998? It hangs up constantly, screw up the contacts sync and dropped events off my iCal. What's worse, when you try to get support, they did not answer...it's been a week. They claim it sometimes gets caught in junkmail. That is a stupid excuse. A daily scan of my junkmail for three separate support tickets produced nothing. I guess that makes them liars too.

    worthless, absolutely worthless

This is the worst commercial software I have ever used. It really is an embarrassing attempt.
It reflects very poorly on Blackberry and/or PocketMac. The Mac market though small (growing faster
than the PC market), is big enough to justify R & D resources from Blackberry/RIM.

Even though ATT is the worst cell carrier, this makes the iPhone a better choice. After using a Palm Treo, an iPhone and the Blackberry Curve, the iPhone is a better choice. With compatibility with Microsoft Exchange, the Blackberry is just an option, not the only choice.

    Get the iPhone.

    "Ouch"

    Version: PocketMac for BlackBerry 4.0.20b

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It is so rare that I can something. Usually, software is always functional. Might not be great, but as long as it works.

This package was a waste of a whole evening. (or maybe it's the Blackberry?) Blackberry pearls require USB connections to sync. They have bluetooth, but it's useless unless you want to be the borg type with the cute Spoke ear-ring. Bluetooth was intended to do away with cables, to make near-proximity devices work without headaches. Not with a Blackberry. At least with a Mac. RIM -- bad form, people.

This package shows similar lack of testing, thought or engineering prowess. 3 hours of trying different methods out -- after the retarded hoops one has to jump through to download a FREE package on the website. The software never successfully sync'd anything. Just one application? no. Everything? no. A few select like the address book or ical? no.

I wanted to dismiss the rants below as just that. No -- they had my experience. I hope buying a Blackberry wasn't a complete waste of time. I'd love the iPhone, but AT&T is too nasty to consider (they use the deathstar as their logo, after all...). Well, that's not fair. the iPhone could use 3G, video phone, GPS, and a lot more memory installed than the small bumps we've seen thus far. But back to the Blackberry and Mac support. This package is a waste of time.
Where's a native full software package for the Mac? RIM hasn't made one.

Need to use a smartphone? Missing Sync will work with the BB instead of this lame duck. But maybe you'd be happier with a Nokia (I know I was) or the Apple product if you can stomach that awful carrier. RIM has a LONG way to go to make superior software. Underwriting the PocketMac folks wasn't their best decision.
