Summary
Previous to installing this upgrade I had problems recording to 6X rated CDRs. After installing the upgrade the 6X CDRs recorded at full speed (12X) with no problems, just like my 12X rated CDRs.

I have owned one. It worked good for the first 2 months. After that nothing but coasters.There online support is very poor. If your burner stops working one day after warranty you are out of luck. If you do buy one check out the manufactures sticker on the drive. It will tell you the month and year it was made. Becareful you might get one that was sitting on the shelve for months and if you loose your bill they will go by that for warranty. All in all , will never buy plextor agian. You are paying for the name they once had. There are a lot better out there for a lot less. example LG.

Summary
Ive tried everything i could possibly think of and this drive is the slowest and most problematic piece of equipment .Ive even bought and tried different cd-r media and software .Ive spent more money on this drive then my whole pc .The firmware update locks up and all the updates to make this thing work half the time. I always heard they were the best but i will not be buying future products from Plextor.I hope that mine is a rare occurrence,thanks!

Summary
This firmware is less stable then the original 1.03 I have had to install v1.05 off of their website to get it to work properly, it is still dodgy with my 8cm RW disks and won't blank them properly.
