"Only one problem"
Version: PleaseSleep 2.1
Pros
Does what it says

But doesn't wake from sleep on LAN!

I hoped this would solve the problem of Mac Mini Lion Server not going to sleep. It did. But then it would not wake on LAN. Solving this problem would make it perfect!

"Does what Apple can't - it lets computers sleep"
Version: PleaseSleep 2.1
Pros
PleaseSleep lets my iMac 27" i5 actually sleep.
After 90 minutes on the phone to Apple Care, they still couldn't fix the problem (and I ended up having to reinstall Lion).Cons
A minor gripe: When you open PleaseSleep, there's no indication its open - except for an icon in the menu bar. Only a problem once. (But I'd rather keep my menu bar clean.)
Only just installed/no other issues identified.Summary
Sure beats spending hours in forums and on the phone trying to fix the sleep problem.
This software shouldn't be necessary, but it's great that it's available. -
"Great Little Must-Have App for Apple Laptops"
Version: PleaseSleep 1.2
Pros
It works. It's nicely configurable. Easy on, easy off. Solves a MAJOR Mac OS X problem with sleep reliability.
Cons
None None None
Summary
I've used this great little freeware menu bar item for years. Right now it's on my MacBook running 10.6.4 and working perfectly. I can add exceptions to forced sleep easily in its preferences. It's extremely reliable and IMHO a critical MUST HAVE for all Apple MacBook and MacBook Pro owners. If only Apple had this built into Mac OS X!

"Fixes Mac Mini sleep issues"
Version: PleaseSleep 1.2
Summary

Because it uses manual sleep, this program makes your mac go to sleep immediately when the Energy Saver interval expires. It has solved a series of know sleep problems for me that Apple has been unable to solve.
An excellent piece of donationware. -
"needs exclusion list"
Version: PleaseSleep 1.1
Summary

This works well, thanks! Works better than similar products out there that have tried to do the same thing. I like that there's an option to sleep only if certain application(s) are running but having an option to not sleep if certain applications are on would be the other half to make this a complete utility. For example, yesterday it went to sleep on me while on a Skype chat, simply because no buttons were pressed for 15 mins during the chat. Also, if something is downloading for more than 15 mins, like a bittorrent, then this application would sleep my computer which is not what I want. Of course, I could always quit the app when using these things but if there's an inclusion list, it would make sense to have an exclusion list as well. Perhaps this is easier said than done since one list could override the other, but a toggle/checkbox could be a start. -
"Solves a big problem"
Version: PleaseSleep 1.0
Summary

For unknown reasons my Mac Pro (Tiger) would never sleep on its own, though I could always put it to sleep manually. This software seems to do exactly what's expected - several times now it has slept the computer per my energy saver preference panel. One time the computer didn't wake up, but it was the first time I used this and I had run it multiple times before I realized it was running in the status bar, so that may have been a factor. I'll report back if I see any more anomalies.
One feature which would be nice is for it to not sleep if it sees consistent network activity above a certain threshold (e.g. when the Mac is streaming to a local or network client). I haven't yet tested to see if it automatically stays awake when that's the case, but I don't see any preferences options for that sort of setting.
