    "must-have for your address book!"

    October 18, 2004  |

    Version: Plaxo 2.0

    Summary

Plaxo is one of those well designed programs that just works. You hardly have to do anything and your addressbook magically fills up with all this new and updated contact info. I don't know how I lived without it!

    "Not SpyWare"

    September 18, 2004  |

    Version: Plaxo 2.0

    Summary

Okay, to those posts that said this was a spyware application, that is simply not true. I use both Adaware and SpyBot, both up to date, and never have they encountered any issues with this product. Additionally, HiJackThis does did not see any changes after this product was installed.

The program does send anonymous usage statistics by default, and it will sync up more than just your contacts by default (I had to go through the properties to change these attributes after installation).

On the plus side, this product has been a tremendous help for my business. In the high tech field in which I operate, my colleagues are constantly changing jobs, and keeping my contacts up to date is difficult. With over 1,000 contacts in my outlook, making sure I have the correct phone numbers and email addresses is virtually impossible. Plaxo solves this problem for me. When I first synced up my address book, I realized there were around over 50 of my contacts connected with Plaxo, and my contact information for 1/2 of these was completely out of date.

If you are trying to keep in touch with people on a personal level, perhaps this application is not for you, but if relationships are important to your business, Plaxo becomes an invaluable tool.

    Thanks Plaxo!

    "Believed to be spyware"

    September 9, 2004  |

    Version: Plaxo 2.0

    Summary

I had an end user at my company that had this mysteriously installed by clicking on the link in one of the emails it floods people with. I uninstalled it and it kept showing back up. Next thing I knew her system had half a dozen other spyware programs loaded on it. It took a couple of hours to uninstall all of this. I had to run Ad-aware in order to get rid of it all.

"Made a mess with my contacts"

    August 18, 2004  |

    Version: Plaxo 2.0

    Summary

I don't know what went wrong but my address book was completely messed up. This program started to duplicate, merge and delete records as soon as I had installed it. Thank fully I had a 15-day-old back up to restore.

"Too many problems - don't use!"

    August 11, 2004  |

    Version: Plaxo 2.0

    Summary

First, expect to have frequent crashes of both your address book and Outlook/Outlook express!
Second expect to get your address book so screwed up with duplicates, corrupted data, etc..
Be ready for problems where the company Plaxo.com doesn't want you to use it for "business purposes"! If you do, expect that suddenly your "account" is terminated.
Their customer support is really bad!
The number of contacts that you can have in your address book (although not stated) tops out at about 15,000.
