    "Just quite good"

    August 25, 2006  |   By Chanrran

    Version: Plan for Windows 3

    Pros

    Better than others

    Cons

Adjust the time of the task is not convenient. You can not set the period of a task. If you change the begging time of the task you must have change the end time too. It does't automatically change though the lasting time are the same.

    "The best!"

    August 18, 2006  |   By Dockketty

    Version: Plan for Windows 3

    Pros

I have used some others but they don't have as many features as this. And the demo has a long trial time.

    "This is the dogs nuts."

    February 10, 2006  |   By dakster75

    Version: Plan for Windows 2.08

    Pros

This has almost everything for running my design projects and keeping. Ive never used MS Project so cant compare but I have seen the £300 price difference. Perfect for small businesses. Took me 2 hours to learn to do what I wanted. It even acts as an easy invoicing tool for projects.

    Cons

Registration is not that great - moving from the demo to getting the full version may stop some people purchasing this. I had to run a search on google to find the company to purrchase it.

    "Excellent small project planning tool"

    December 18, 2005  |   By fosterg2

    Version: Plan for Windows 2.08

    Pros

Small, clear, simple and available on Windows and your choice of PDA. Provides a common-sense project planning tool as an affordable understandable package.

MS-Project is large feature rich and incomprehensible. Plan is just right for most of us.

(If you are planning a space program or the next Olympics, then MS-Project is probably better suited) For home extension projects, or medium sized work based projects Plan should suffice.

    Cons

Can't see how to overlay resource graphs or resource holiday views.. Guess it isn't available which is a shame. (i.e. identify who is out when to check for holiday clashes when you are running a team of people.)

    "Clever and robust little program"

    March 31, 2005  |   By Gacougnol

    Version: Plan for Windows 2.07

    Pros

I strongly recommend this product. It has very good value if you need to manage personal projects, or even if you have to do some planning for your home office or small business.

Obviously this is a light product, but the compromises which have been made seem mostly intelligent. I like its Gantt view very much: it is very customizable, and practical even on small screens.

Easy to install, no-hassle trial version, good user interface. Very clever export function to Microsoft Outlook: your project tasks can be converted to Outlook tasks, so you can get an Outlook alert whenever a task is supposed to begin.

I started by looking for a free product, and chose to buy this one instead. If you do not want to pay through the nose for some bloated piece of software whose features will mostly go unused, this should definitely be on your shortlist.

    Cons

Many usual keyboard shortcuts do not work on this product: some dialog boxes will not accept the Enter or Escape key, for instance. You cannot type a task directly into a cell as you would do with Excel, etc. This is a bit irritating and causes many unwanted hand movements between mouse and keyboard.

Tasks can be input through three different modes: work and rates, rates and dates, work and dates. It gives you powerful alternatives, but it is not very intuitive for the casual user.

Do not expect a PERT view or a calendar view (apart from Gantt). Two significant improvements would be: 1) to allow changes in the timing of tasks by moving the Gantt bars with the mouse (OK, arguably, this could put the software in another price league altogether); 2) to allow the conversion of a project task to an Outlook calendar item, on top of an Outlook task. This way, you could have a calendar view of your entire project.

Some specific feature that might be critical to your job could be missing, so it is advisable to give this product a trial run anyway.
