"Do not install Pinnacle Video Spin"

    February 20, 2011  |   By patwins

    Version: Pinnacle Video Spin 1.1.2.542

    Pros

Installed it - opened it - got a message I had to reinstall because it didn't install correctly. Read the reviews here and one stood out - "Can't uninstall Pinnacle Video Spin" so, I opened Add Remove programs and clicked Uninstall.

    Cons

Got a message that I had to close Pinnacle Video Spin to uninstall - it was closed - so I clicked Retry - went through the cycle again and got the same message - Clicked IGNORE and the software finally uninstalled.

    Summary

The software creator has loaded this program with tricks and stalls. I vote NO. I write this to save you time and headache.

"Better off with Windows Live Movie Maker!"

    August 9, 2010  |   By Mortiferon

    Version: Pinnacle Video Spin 1.1.2.542

    Pros

Good layout, straightforward editing bar and easy cutting and deleting of clipped sections ? but that?s it (and why I gave it 2 stars rather than just the 1 star it deserves)!

    Cons

    1. Falsely advertised as free 2. Holds codecs use for ransom! 3. Horrible customer/update support 4. Advertised as but not fully compatible for Win7 x64 5. Can?t maximize, overhangs on task bar 6. Frequent crashes and hangs. 7. MOSTLY UNUSABLE!

    Summary

Don't waste your time or your money on allegedly "free" (a seemingly meaningless word these days) video editing software if you just want to do some simple cut-editing (like removing commercials or other undesired sections of a movie file as most people do) and NOT have most of your computer?s own codecs and file formats (which by the way, to reiterate, your computer ALREADY HAS installed and fully supports) locked up and held for ransom then just stick with Windows Live Movie Maker, it handles those simple tasks easily and your wallet will thank you for it!

Also important to note, I was going to buy the codec pack but it dawned on me that it wasn't for many of the actual codecs... it was just so that the program could utilize most of the codecs ALREADY on your computer and only because Pinnacle rigged the program to not recognize and use them and all in the name of making a quick and dirty buck off of, as the "elite" say: "useless eater morons", without any principals or dignity in not letting themselves be ripped-off!

Don?t misunderstand me? I am all for a workman getting their fair share of pay, BUT WHEN A COMPANY ADVERTISES AND FREE PROGRAM IT SHOULD ACTUALLY BE FREE! That's where I draw the line, and nevermind the fact of them putting the hat out for $15 to unlock the program to use most codecs ALREADY ON your computer! That is just an APPALLING, CHEAP-SHOT *BURGLARY*!

HAVE SOME BACKBONE AND JUST SAY NO, THEY MAKE ENOUGH MONEY ON THEIR OTHER HUNDREDS - EVEN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS-A-PIECE PROGRAMS!

"A VERY WELCOME alternative to Windows Movie Maker!"

    July 7, 2010  |   By ilovefreesoftware2010

    Version: Pinnacle Video Spin 1.1.2.542

    Pros

    -It's FREE!
    -Easy to use Interface
-It DOES NOT freeze on you every two minutes like Windows Movie Maker
    -Easy to install and use

    Cons

Applying transitions can be a bit tricky if you are first starting but other than that it's pure gold! Get this software!!

    Summary

Are you sick and tired of Windows Movie Maker "not responding" or freezing up on you when you try to use it? Then I would encourage you to get Video Spin.

I installed it yesterday and completed a video that I uploaded on YouTube. I was very happy with it. It took 10mins to download and install start to finish for me (I'm on DSL). What I like about it is you DO NOT need to restart the computer it's ready to use as soon as the instalation finishes. When you first use it you have to "register"-- give your email address and name but that's only so they can send u a "welcome email and stress to you about codecs" so it's no big deal and you can unsubscribe at anytime.

What I liked about it is that it did NOT freeze on me at all. I was able to make my movie and complete it in one afternoon; compared to Windows Movie Maker which would take me a week b/c it would freeze so much and I would just get frustrated with it.

Like any new software you will have to play around with it to get the hang of it. I wish I had known about video spin a long time ago. Bottom line is this. ... if the two choices are Windows Movie Maker or Video Spin for my movie making needs, I will go with VIDEO SPIN!!!!

"A good program that is worth the $15."

    May 23, 2010  |   By arbon

    Version: Pinnacle Video Spin 1.1.2.542

    Pros

It is easy to use; better than WMM in that it supports MOV files. $15 is a good price for a working video editor.

    Cons

It appeared that when purchasing the codecs that there was no security. There was. But don't look for the S, but rather the green logo on the right hand side.

    Summary

I enjoyed the 2 weeks trial. It was fully functional. So when the time was up, I considered the price a very reasonable deal.

"Cool product, but not free, just a trial"

    May 7, 2010  |   By edly4000

    Version: Pinnacle Video Spin 1.1.2.542

    Pros

Exports to MP4, easy to use, lots of great features

    Cons

After the 14 day trial won't encode anything. I am not even able to import videos to a new project. Pretty lame to say it's free when it isn't.

    Summary

Cool product if you are looking to buy something, misrepresented as free.

"nice standard operator with simple interface"

    April 17, 2010  |   By AntonDavis

    Version: Pinnacle Video Spin 1.1.2.542

    Pros

I like that it has a wonderful time-line that resembles that of my simplest editor. It was easy to understand and quick to get started. Plus there are so many more features that I have not yet used which means more to learn and better looking video.

    Cons

I just don't think there are enough lines for video. I'd like to do video in video and several windows in one shot. I'm not sure that it doesnt have this feature, but I have not found it as yet.

    Summary

It's a really good product if you're moving up from WMM and haven't really tried any other editors. Easy to get started and quite a few more options and features. Well worth the time it takes to learn the extras, and your videos will look more professional.
