Trial does allow editing the AVCHD MTS video files shot from panasonic pocket camera.
1) Constantly crashes 2) Program is very slow 3) Very wierd interface
I accomplished nothing evaluating this trial due to constant crashes.
For the record, the program I will most likely purchase (since it's the only so far that has even worked me) is AVSVideoEditor at http://www.avs4you.com . This worked right away, was easy to figure out, imported my MTS, I was editting, it also was a bit slow, BUT not a single crash, and it exported the video (trial includes a watermark that you are using an unlicensed version). Now that's what I call a successful trial!
Very smooth adding transitions and so many FX features. Expandable timeline makes fine editing easy. Easy to learn standard features except for HD from HD camera.
Downloadiind HD from resolution isn't on the menu like you would expect. You need to open another sub- menu. Loading and converting files is slow even with 4GB of Ram in my computer
I downloaded Adobe PRE and Pinnacle Studio 14 Trail versions. Adobe keeps locking up--not good for someone in the market for software. It also seemed hard to learn and the Instant movie feature was Mickey Mouse. Studio 14 takes a while to load but once loaded and you figure out how to download from a HD Camera, it performed very well. I haven't figured out all the features but the variety offered transitions was far superior to Adobe. Like I say, it is slow to load and to convert to a movie in HD but all seemed to work very well .This is probably the one I will buy. I have seen Adobe PRE reviews rating it higher ( I can't see why) but in my book Pinnacle Studio 14 for the money is a lot better buy. It is easier to learn and use than Adobe and the final product of my movie has no glitches like the one I made with Adobe. If your interested in making and editing movies fast without having to be a Studio Engineer but want more effects than the Standard cheap or free movie maker I think this one fits the bill. I am certainly no expert in the field, but I have used editors before and this is the best I have tried in this price range
Upon downloading the free trial, which took a very long time, the program seemed fantabulous. Somewhat instinctive and some of it had a learning curve. It definitely was a powerhouse. Until......
The big CRASH. Windows came up with warnings stating the problems were due to a recently installed program. It was a little scary to me since I'm not a geek. Then it happened a 2nd time - and I didn't let it happen a 3rd. It's gone now.
I really thought this was going to be the video editing program I was looking for. It had lots of great features and a sleek look. I would think that the trial version would run flawlessly so that I would buy the program. If the trial version made my new Toshiba i7 crash then I believe there's a big problem with the program. Crashing my computer is not an option for me.
Easy to use interface. Great, strightforward editing program. Very stable with XP and Windows 7 (64 bit).
None that I can think of.
I've been using Pinnacle Studio since Version 7. Over the years there have been (in my opinion) good versions (7, 9, 11, 14) and not-so-good versions (8, 10). I skipped 12. The latest version is the best I've used. It's smooth, fast, and has lots of nice features. Before settling on Pinnacle Studio. I tried just about every video editing program on the market. None matched the ease of use of Pinnacle. I highly recommend it, especially for beginners.
