Version: Pidgin 2.5.0
"It was a great product"
Pros: 1. Support of the chinese messenger QQ
2. Lots of plug ins, also for the facebook chat
3. Buddy pounce, put your own sound on buddies when they sing in/out, message u, etc,
4. Sign in on multiple accounts on the same clientCons: 1. Since 2.4 the GTK has a conflict with QQ, and all buddies and message are seen as "NULL"
Summary: I am using pidgin for ages and it always has been my favourite all in one. There is nothing better out there. When i wouldnt be in the need of QQ and using chinese, pidgin gets 5 stars without a question. Nether the less since 2.4 the QQ protocol conflicts with GTK and your buddies/messages on QQ are all seen as "NULL". This problem has not been fixed yet.
2. When u use chinese and english, the fonts easily great conflicts. Your choice of fonts is basiclly cut down to 3.
Therefore pidgin only gets a 4 star rating. The problem with QQ can be easily taken care of, when you download the "pidgin 2.5 no gtk" installer. Or downgrade your gtk to "gtk 2.12.1b" Then it will work again, but pidgin wont look that fancy.
But all in all, Pidgin is a great open source messenger, and i hope they get the QQ-GTK problem done.
