"somewhat simple and very convenient"
Version: Pidgin 2.7.4
Pros
You can use your different IM accounts in one program, which means only one list of names (accounts). Another thing is that using your accounts (at least your Yahoo! and Facebook) on this program don't violate the TOS as I've heard.
Cons
It doesn't provide the functions of Y!M like video chatting and stuff. Also, when you chat here through FaceBook, you'll still get a chat pop-up on FaceBook in your browser, sometimes even when you only opened it afterwards.
Summary
It's great but still needs some tweaking, but if those tweaks are not possible, like they need to coordinate with the companies of the IMs, then it's alright. It provides a convenient way of using FaceBook chat (I don't like the bugs and interface FaceBook's chat that much.). It's still really nice though and, as of now, I still use it .

"Great product, I love the multi-protocol feature."
Version: Pidgin 2.7.3
Pros
It allows you to run multiple IM programs in one window, keeping the desktop uncluttered. Also can be used in Linux and Mac Operating systems, Adium for Mac OS.
Cons
There is nothing that I don't like about it.
-
"Easy to load and use!!"
Version: Pidgin 2.7.3
Pros
Extremely easy to load and use; it doesn't take as much memory space as Yahoo Messenger.
Cons
Miss the "bells and whistles" that I got used to on Yahoo Messenger. Need to add a skin plugin and the sort from the IM that this is compatible with.

"Its a good alternative for chat only."
Version: Pidgin 2.7.3
Pros
-Uses less resources.
-fast start-up
-nice featuresCons
-account options are a little bit confusing at first
-I haven`t confirmed if you can still recieve chat messages while you are "invisible"Summary
It needs to re-organize some of its options, they are a little confusing, but when you get the hango of it is no longer a problem, but it may scare some new users.
I have been using it for quite some time, and I am very pleased with it, if you want a light chat only messenger give this one a try. -
"Works great, the only program I use!"
Version: Pidgin 2.7.3
Pros
It does what it says it will. It doesn't take up as much memory as other programs will. It supports plug-ins that allow a person to chat with facebook and skype and other things.
Cons
It still seems like it could support more features. I also would prefer that they included more support so I didn't need plug-ins.
Summary
This version works just as well for me as the previous versions did.

Cons
I haven't found the cons yet

"Another messenger that does not work-"
Version: Pidgin 2.7.3
Pros
None at all.
Cons
Everything because you cannot do anything on this messenger.
Summary
Pidgon like all mult-network messengers claim to let you send messages to more than one network. What is different about this and other mult network messengers from for example Yahoo messenger or windows live is. That Windows live and Yahoo only allow you to send live chat emails and make voice and video calls to other people there own messenger service-Windows Live user can only call another Windows live messenger user-Yahoo users can only call another Yahoo user. But messengers like Trillian,Digsby and this one Pidgen allow you to call friends on all other networks. It claims to support Google talk, yahoo,Aim,Windows Live. But with this messenger Pidgen and ALL of the multi-network messengers I have tried, unfortunately this one too does not work. Although on some i could send emails, that was all I could do but my contacts never received them.I have finally come to the conclusion that multi-network messengers DO NOT WORK and so do not waste your time with them. The idea is meant to be you use Digsby or Pidgeon to contact friens on Windows Live,Google,Yahoo,or Aol and it is supposed to save you having to install,Yahoo messenger,Windows live messenger,or Google talk, thats 3 or 4 different messengers on your computer and with Pidgen or Digsby or trillian or other, you have just one messenger to save time and space. But these mult-messengers do not work and are very difficult to uninstall as well. The problem is that a third party messenger is third party software so cannot detect the other contact you are callings settings or software, even though it is supposed to. Where as if you are using Google video for example to call your contact on Google video, they are using the same software as you. So yours and the other persons computer software can connect to it,but a third party software can not do this. I think that is the problem. My advice is if you have friends using different messaging services, you are far better off just to install Google Talk,Yahoo Messenger and Aim Messenger and use those 3 or 4 messengers and, this does not take up space on your computer anymore than anything else does. Or if you do not want to do this, just download one reliable messenger for example Google Talk or Yahoo or Aim Messenger, and tell your friends to create an account on that,so you can chat to them. This is a far better option that having a third party multi-messenger,that does not work and is a disaster.

"This is a good centre for multipe chatting accounts."
Version: Pidgin 2.3.1
Pros
My friends use different chatting protocols, so I like to be able to access them all from one programme. I also like open source software.
Cons
As far as I've discovered, not all the features of the original chat clients are available here, at least not without going to greater lengths to set up their equivalents.

Cons

"Doesn't support full range of characters"
Version: Pidgin 2.7.2
Pros
You can get messages from other IMservices - including facebook. It also tells you when you've received an e-mail (including messages on FB)
Cons
You can't use accented characgers, even on msn and yahoo. It REDUCES functionality
Summary
Has some good points, but fundamentally, it reduces functionality.
