"Loved 2.0 but have big problems with newer releases."

    August 29, 2010  |   By 17redmond

    Version: Picasa 2

    Pros

Picasa 2.0 was wonderful, so easy to view, edit and organize my photos; in fact I use to recommend it to everybody. I am unable to positively review its latest version.

    Cons

Since I updated to latest version, I cannot complete the upload of my photos. It doesn't have the option to upload only certain file types, and as soon as it comes across a mov file extension the program shuts down. It won?t get past this point.

    Summary

Restart after it closes (crashes) sends it back into search mode (as it has lost all files it found before) and then it shuts down again. I was a huge fan of 2.0 and wish I had it back, but will continue to periodically try again and again with hope that the newest release will not have the problems I experience. Explaining this to Picasa on their website when I have uninstalled has resulted in no reply or comment.

    Updated on Aug 29, 2010

Found an online location to download the old version 2.0 and I am back to being SUPER HAPPY I have it. Will continue to recommend Picasa to everybody I know, but will specify use of the old version only.

    May 4, 2006  |   By dr.rd

    Version: Picasa 2

    Pros

Generally very easy to use. Features are as advanced as many expensive programs and better than most.

    Cons

Sometimes difficult to navigate. Copying photo to CD is much more complicated than most programs.

    "The perfect photo program"

    April 11, 2006  |   By L.F.P.

    Version: Picasa 2

    Pros

It's very easy to use.Real good search (labels, capture location, captions, file and folder name, favorites...).

Browsing through galleries is also great(timeline.

Basic fixes on the photos are efficient and original photo is not changed. I think it's better than FastStone Image Viewer

    Cons

    It needs more features

"Manage all the photos on your computer!"

    April 1, 2006  |   By rchan89

    Version: Picasa 2

    Pros

Combines ease of use with express delivery, Picasa2 resembles all of Google's other products. It's very simple, yet highly effective. The photo adjustments match the quality of Photoshops. It'll manage all the images on your computer, so instead of having to locate all your image files you can use Picasa2 to edit them. A great way to organize the photos and images on your computer!

    Cons

It's not meant to be Photoshop, so you don't have the flexibility of a paintbrush and color pallete to add onto the image. It will adjust.

It does take up a lot of RAM especially if minimized to system tray. Also, it lacks customization.

"The Best in all the other photo managers I have used!"

    March 30, 2006  |   By Blktech666

    Version: Picasa 2

    Pros

When I ran this software with three other photo manager products it was the only one that didn't crash! I was moving my files around and removing photos at the same time, adding pictures and picasa responded well. I am loving the features though simple it may be, it just suits me fine. and it 's hard to crash...LOL

    Cons

    none
