"Neat idea, but some major flaws."
Version: PicBlock 2
Pros
I think its a great idea, but it needs some major work. I don't see any hope for a 2.x release, this needs a full 3.0 release.
Cons
Some of the major flaws:
1. It uses a ridiculous amount of resources, 30MB to be specific when idling.
2. It doesn't block 25% of the images. A simple search for "lesbian" on google images shows many many images unblocked.
3. It routes all your pages through a proxy of some sort, so it significantly reduces your browsing speed.
Here is a list of my suggestions for the problems:
1. Reduce the resources used down to a max of 8-10mb
2. Improve how it scans images somehow.
3. Have it scan images w/o slowing down your speeds. I know there are many duplicate image finders out there that can find duplicate images, even if they are cropped or have different resolutions, by scanning the images themselves. I suggest finding a way of loading the rest of the page and loading in the pictures as they are scanned. I also suggest it make a quick rough scan of the images so it doesn't have to do a full scan of each image.

"Didn't see ANY blocking of pictures....at all..."
Version: PicBlock 2
Pros
Notta, Zip, Zero, Zilch...
Cons
First, went to images.google.com and typed in PORNO after installing and setting up for the "strictest" ruleset. What came up? EVERY picture out there...conclusion? Product is useless, period.

"The Latest IS the Greatest - NEED to read this yall."
Version: PicBlock 2
Pros
Ok, here's the deal, folks. I know this guy, and I've been following the evolution of this program of his almost since the beginning, for a few years now. It's true, that the earlier versions of this program were not all that stable, and effective, however, 2.0 is very stable, and also very effective --BOTH at filtering pornographic images (even tiny thumbnails) AND filtering out/blocking inappropriate/bad web pages based on keywords --which it does quite well now, though didn't at first, when he first introduced the feature. The main thing is this: it is very rare that any software producer makes a perfect gem at the start; it has to be re-worked and molded based on testing and having good people report and comment on it, etc. In time, with a dedicated mind-set on making a good product ever better (which he has, and continues to do) there is no end in sight as to just how much better this program can get. It's already fantastic in my book. We need more people out there like this guy. Not too mention that it's totally FREE, AND he's paying for it's evolution and programming all out of his own pocket (which isn't cheap) and still keeps it free for all, as a service to help protect kids and families and or individuals struggling with pornography addiction, etc. --all that alone is worthy of at least a testing of this product which now works great, and is continually getting even better, and, for those who used the earlier versions, which, admittedly, were not all that exceptional, this latest one, for the aforementioned reasons, is certainly worthy of a re-evaluation. Thanks for reading, and please, try to be a little more kind and considerate of this man and what all he's trying to do for so many. He's not a huge money-hungry business out to rob our pocket-books and give us a cheap product in return; he's very sincere and genuine in wanting to provide a valuable service for all.
Cons
Nothing. Admittedly, the earlier versions left much to be desired, but this 2.0 is very-nearly perfect, and very stable. There are a few MINOR flaws, but it is only getting better, and he takes any and all suggestions seriously, replies promptly and personally, and is very courteous. Check this one out, yall!

"There are better free products out there than PicBlock 2.0"
Version: PicBlock 1.0.5
Pros
Easy to install.
Straightforward settings allow you to password protect multiple activities (such as configuration, overriding blocks, uninstalling, and allowing web use when program is disabled).
Can run in "stealth" mode (icons and notifications are disabled)
Did not add significantly to download times for pages with images.
Cons
Although you can set multiple levels of sensitivity, it's unclear what is blocked at various levels. I was getting a lot of false positives, so I reduced the level to its most lenient, and still got lots of false positives.

"New version 2.0 is vastly improved, excellent protection for kids"
Version: PicBlock 1.0.5
Pros
This new version is really two products in one. First it very effectively blocks and blurs objectional images that may come up in an image search on any of the search engines. Second, the new word blocking filter blocks sites with sexual, vulgar, hateful racist or other potentially objectional content. As a bonus, it even blocks words in several languages. This layered protection also works on the popular video and social networking sites.
You can set the level of protection and it's password protected so the kids can't turn it off.
After testing half a dozen commercial products and every free product I could find, I found that none of the products are perfect. Some are downright awful. Some want an annual subscription, some require you to add all the words to block yourself. Some are too confusing and complicated to use. I found that unwanted stuff could still get through on all of them. All of them sometimes block things that aren't objectionable. When and when not to block Paris Hilton is not an easy thing for a filter to do.
I am computer teacher at a K-5 school with over 800 children coming to the computer lab each week. This is the product that I prefer for our desktop filtering solution. It installs easy, is simple to set up and combines word and image filtering.
If you want to protect your family from porn, violence or other material on the net, try this new version. It works.

Cons
i hope it's work on winme

"Absolutely worthless. Written by Elbonians."
Version: PicBlock 1.0.5
Pros
Uninstalls quickly. This is important because if you load it you'll be in a rush to do this.
It's free so you aren't out any money. It would be grossly overpriced if it cost a nickel.
Cons
After install locked up system after first restart - loaded about 250 running processes & an uncountable number of multiple program starts. Had to force a shutdown with power button. Incompatable with Symantec Firewall. On restart acted normal. Blurred out all the photos of people in Google News, but after finding a genuine adult site to test let EVERYTHING come through crystal clear. A complete waste of time.

"NOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!!!!"
Version: PicBlock 1.0.5
Pros
It makes for a great IDEA ONLY!!!
Cons
Did NOT WORK AT ALL!!!!!!
I installed this program because it said it looks at the "image" instead of the "adress."
Sounds great, in theory.
I decided to test it's protection level.
Set all the strictest settings and password protected EVERYTHING.
Then I searched and connected to the first Porn site I could find.
***NEVER STOPPED ME. All the images came up with NO warnings or even apeared to atempt to block ANYTHING.
I checked my settings and tried again.
Samething.
****DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM if you have children, or a porn addiction. It did not work AT ALL!!!!!

"NO, THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED."
Version: PicBlock 1.0.5
Cons
Not only that, but now it won't let me uninstall it, saying that the administrative password that I know for a fact I just entered is "not valid." This software is junk. Go to Run, type in MSCONFIG, and disable it. That is apparently all you can do.

"DO NOT DOWNLOAD !!!"
Version: PicBlock 1.0.3
Pros
Good concept- image blocking-
Cons
after restart this program continualy restarted--I have over 20 windows ...it would not stop. It is un-stable . I could not enter safe mode, I finally had to do a role back in order to get rid of it.
