Apple's Photos for MacOS provides a solid range of editing tools but shines in its ability to organize images using facial, object, and scene recognition.

Pros

Editing: Photos comes with a powerful collection of image-editing tools for improving the look of photos. You can use Enhance to automatically adjust the color and contrast of an image. You can rotate an image; trim, flip, and adjust the orientation of an image; and change aspect ratio. You can also apply non-destructives filters; adjust light and color; retouch blemishes; and fix red-eye.

Keep organization: Photos automatically sorts your photographs by date and location. Photos uses facial and object recognition to tag images for faces, objects, and scenes, letting you search for photos by subject matter, such as those containing a dog, tractor, or beach.

Mark favorites and tags: Click the heart in the top-left of a photo thumbnail to make it a favorite and add it to the Favorites folder in the sidebar. Tag photos by adding keywords and find tagged photos by searching for a keyword.

Share photos: Share images through Mail, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and more by selecting a photo and then tapping the Share button.

Use third-party extensions: You can install third-party extensions from the Mac App Store, which you can use to expand your set of editing tools in Photos.

Cons

Apple-centric: Photos works great within the Apple ecosystem, from Mac and iOS devices through iCloud. On Windows and Android devices, however, the experience is limited to using the iCloud Photo Library on Windows and viewing photos on Android.

Bottom Line
