"Does the Job"

September 30, 2014  |  By HeavySoftwareUser

 |  Version: PhotoStage Slideshow Producer Professional 2.52

Pros

This is a decent piece of software for a free. It helped me make my wedding slideshow last month and my daughter's school slideshow recently. No complaints except for the dated look.

Cons

It looks slightly dated, but functions great.

"What a Rip-Off"

December 17, 2013  |  By tjlee500

 |  Version: PhotoStage Slideshow Producer Professional 2.21

Pros

Good program but updating etc is BAD

Cons

Updating and Support is TERRIBLE!

Summary

Updating is a rip-off"

December 17, 2013 | By tjlee500

Pros

It is a good program but updating is expensive and unfair

Cons
Updating and Support

Summary

I bought the program 3 months ago and decided to take the UPDATE option from the open program. No warning that this would deregister my copy. It updated and became an unregistered copy. I contacted support and registration is linked to the DATE you bought program. I learned I would have to pay an update fee which was almost the cost of the original program. I finally got support to send me link to older program so I could use my purchase reg. key.

Most programs allow you to update for free or at least tell you update will cost so much. Not NCH software. Buyer Beware! I will search for a program that has a reasonable update policy. Just went to Windows 8.1 for FREE!

"This program is very bad."

September 23, 2013  |  By Frankdal25

 |  Version: PhotoStage Slideshow Producer Professional 2.21

Pros

The price is reasonable, but the program does not work.

Cons

I have Windows 7 Pro and after spending 2 days on my grandson's wedding slideshow, the project disappeared from my pc. Whenever T did some work on the project I saved the project for the next session. When I tried to open the project it was nowhere to be found. Where the HECK dik it go? Don't buy this software. When I had XP I used Photo Story 3 and it worked great. Too bad it does't work with windows 7. Can anyone suggest a good Slideshow program? Thanks.

Summary

I need a good Slideshow program to buy.

"Simply doesn't work as advertised..."

August 26, 2013  |  By petedalejudi

 |  Version: PhotoStage Slideshow Producer Professional 2.21

Pros

easy, intuitive, great GUI. I really wished it worked...

Cons

Just does not work!! Everytime I ran it I got a different file length. I ran it with same input slides plus music and sometimes it crashed other times it finished but skipped slides in the play mode. I tried .wmv and .avi with different setting (bitrate) still no go. I tried all compatability modes for the program as well under win8. I was only able to make this software run under my old p4,2.53 ghz system, it took 4 hours for a 17 min slideshow!!

Summary

Try if for free and really test before buying this software. If you do buy it do so with a credit card and save yourself from dealing with NCH software. This software drops some of the pics in the show and hangs on others...so make sure it works for you. I was using a wedding with 242 pics and some music. I spent 2 weeks testing this under all variations. I don't know why Cnet rated this so highly....
Good Luck....you'll need it. I

"DVD Major Playback Issues - Do not buy for DVD burning"

June 03, 2013  |  By JH20Twelve

 |  Version: PhotoStage Slideshow Producer Professional 2.21

Pros

1)Easy to use, very intuative.
2)Ability to edit audio clips to chosen length and adjust fade in/out points
3)Good range of transition types
4)Playback preview function

Cons

1 ) Burning to DVD simply does not work in any meaningful or reliable manner. Having created slideshows varying between 50 and 400 pictures, with and without audio, I have only been able to create one working DVD. That required saving the same slideshow 5 times before it would playback. Every other time the images froze at random stages part way through, whilst the audio continued, and sometimes seems to have re-ordeed the images into a different order (possibly by size?).

2) Scrolling throgh images is clumsy. Although easy to use, amending the clip or transition duration or transition type for multiple clips is very unweildy. Although a simple click/hold shift/click function, scrolling along say 20 images seems to take a long time.

Summary

As my main reason for buying this application over others was the supposed abilty to burn a slideshow with audio to DVD, I am very dissapointed.

Despite trying different DVD writers, disc types and varying the content and size of slideshows I have not been able to identify a specific reason for it not burning a playable version to a disc.

Saving as a datafile does work (most of the time) but that is not why I bought this.

Despite its attractive features and options, it is not fit for the purpose for which it was advertised or for which I bought it.

I can not recommend this product.

"Horrible crap."

February 18, 2013  |  By dundee50

 |  Version: PhotoStage Slideshow Producer Professional 2.13

Pros

none and I've tried very hard to find at least one. So much promise at first.

Cons

Just does not work worth a damn.

Summary

Thought it was going to be good. But so much trouble with it.
Very unstable and ran into major problems once I started with video and music file. Absolutely rubbish. And the worst thing is I can't uninstall this garbage!!

Updated on Feb 18, 2013

I can't understand how CNET could give such a high rating.

"Do Not Buy this Product It is a Scam"

October 12, 2012  |  By Ndoumani

 |  Version: PhotoStage Slideshow Producer Professional 2.13

Pros

There are none to speak of. It is a scam. They take your money and time and that is all you get.

Cons

You can not create a slide show and save it to a DVD. Waste of time. Then when you pay for support they do not provide it. I wasted money on the software and the technical support. Do not do what I did find another program for your slide show needs.

"DO NOT BUY FROM THESE MONEY GRABBING MORONS!!!!"

July 10, 2012  |  By mavrikinmd

 |  Version: PhotoStage Slideshow Producer Professional 2.13

Pros

ONLY ONE!- handles m4a(mp4 ITunes audio files)

Cons

"CUSTOMER SUPPORT" Takes NEARLY TWO DAYS to respond to inquiries for help! And, Forces you to Repeat the SAME QUESTION TWICE BEFORE ACCEPTING the fact Their INFERIOR Software product CANNOT handle MORE THAN ONE audio file when adding to a slideshow!!!! Took them NEARLY A WEEK to Confirm My suspicions about NOT being able to Delete audio files to timeline bar once added, Including NO option to delete them from the menu box where they are originally added!!!! ALL audio tracks played SIMULTANEOUSLY, which is RIDICULOUS and a MAJOR software FLAW to which tech support replied, "We have sent this suggestion to our developers to make this optional feature in a future version. We will let you know the result." This does NOTHING to Either correct the problem NOR accept the fact there is a SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW which Subsequently renders the WASTED $30 spent on this software USELESS, NOT TO MENTION ALL The HOURS spent TRYING to get this to work as it SHOULD!!!!!!

STAY AWAY!!!

Summary

DO NOT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME W/THE "FREE TRIAL SOFTWARE", as it's even MORE USELESS than the PAID VERSION!!!!!

WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I loved this program so I bought it!"

February 22, 2012  |  By portia9898

 |  Version: PhotoStage Slideshow Producer Professional 2.12

Pros

Easy to use interface, nice auto features, looks great running on a plasma TV

Cons

Difficult to use multiple music tracks in one show

Summary

I tried out 3 other slideshow programs before buying this one. It has many nice features- like auto streatching a song so it plays through the whole show & being able to lengthen seconds each slide and transition play individually. I also like laying out my show on a timed strip so I could see how long the whole show played. I burned the finshed slideshow to a DVD for a gift & when my sister-in-law played it on the plasma TV it looked great.

"What a disappointment!"

February 20, 2012  |  By PaulPhotog

 |  Version: PhotoStage Slideshow Producer Professional 2.12

Pros

Cheap. (Can't think of anything else good about it, but the review wouldn't let me use only the five letters in "cheap.")

Cons

(1) Does not follow Windows file sort convention. Thus, image files are not in sequence, making it laborious and time consuming to put the slides in order. No way to sort them other than the default, which really screws things up.(2) File names are not displayed in the timeline. This makes it a guessing game when trying to arrange the slides. (3) No way to generate a menu for selecting chapters. (4) No way to cue specific music tracks to specific sets of slides. THIS IS A KILLER FLAW! (5)Tech support is non-existent unless you are willing to pay. No way to offer suggestions for improvement. (6) When you pay, it is in foreign currency, (a fact they fail to mention)which results in a 3% surcharge from most credit card companies.

Summary

For a "quick and dirty" slideshow it is OK, but then there are FREE programs that do as good a job. This could be a good program with the changes mentioned, but as it is I would not recommend it to anyone.
