"Ok I guess"
Version: PhotoScape 3.6.1
Pros
Lots of features available for free.
Cons
Still looking for that program that lets you resize and save. I've tried several free programs, two from my camera's and none, including this program will let you enlarge a picture and save it. Its the one thing I really want to do. I've used the resize bar, the pixel adjustments, everything and the saved picture is identical to the original. Makes no sense unless its a feature only available in the expensive editors.
Summary
Its basically no better than the free bee's you get with your camera. Sony's PMB program is actually easier to use and have the same functions this does. Ditto Nikon's Program.

"My Favorite Of The Top 3 Free Photo Editing Downloads"
Version: PhotoScape 3.6.1
Pros
1. Easy To Use
2. Intuitive Layout
3. Their Website Offers Video Tutorials On Almost Every Single Function of This Software - (http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/help.php?id=intro).
4. A Vast Variety Of Different Functions and Capabilities For Viewing, Editing and Printing Photos.
5. View And Edit many different types of image files including, but not limited to, .jpg and RAW.Cons
1. Sometimes it could take up to twenty or thirty seconds to load large photo databases into the program. My photo sets are all taken at the highest resolution available on my DSLR.
Summary
This past Christmas I received a new Canon DSLR camera. I was not happy with the Canon photo editing software that came bundled with it, but wanted something to give me the ability to edit both .jpg and RAW image files. However, I did not want to spend up to hundred dollars or more for Photo Shop or similar photo editing software. After reading reviews for the top three free photo editing downloads from CNET, those being IrfanView, PhotoScape and FastStone, I became even more confused and unsure, so I decided to download all three and try them each out for a few months. After playing around with each one extensively I have found that I am continuously lured back to PhotoScape for its ease of use and extensive capabilities. IrfanView seems very basic to me and in my opinion would be better suited for a novice photographer or someone who is doing basic editing. I also like FastStone, but still prefer PhotoScape for most editing and I think it does a slightly better job. I am also drawn to PhotoScape's on-screen layout. While some may find it different than more familiar software like Photo Shop, I actually find it different and refreshing to use. I also like the fact that PhotoScape offers separate video tutorials on almost each of its functions on its website. You can check it out before making a final decision at (http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/help.php?id=intro). Can't make up your mind; then do what I did. Download all three, try them and see what works best for you. I have since deleted IrfanView and have kept PhotoScape as my main editor and FastStone as a back-up. Good luck and happy picture taking!

"Relatively user friendly and good"
Version: PhotoScape 3.6.1
Pros
Fairly easy to figure out for basic editing
Cons
Can't make it do what good photo editing programs do.
Summary
I am a beginner/novice when it comes to photo editing. I don't do it much, so every time I try, it's like re-learning the subject. That said, Photoscape does a good job on basic features. Don't expect me to say how it compares to expensive professional programs. I like it better than Irfanview and other free editing software.

"Does what I want it to do!"
Version: PhotoScape 3.6.1
Pros
Basic controls but loads of extras
Ideal for simple editing (for eBay, for example) - and lots more.Cons
Wish I could bring the controls I want onto one screen.
Summary
I don't want exotic editing - I just want to be able to improve my photos to help my sales. So I find that the editing feature is quick and easy to use - and I can go way beyond basic editing if I feel so inclined.
By far the best of the free photo editing programs on offer. -
"this program is really quite fun.
things it can do."Version: PhotoScape 3.6.1
Pros
It has pretty easy instructions and all kinds of neat options
Cons
So far the only bad thing seems to be my own lack of time to spend on this.
Summary
anyone who is wanting to explore their options in making their own stamp on their photos should try this program.

"very powerful and free"
Version: PhotoScape 3.6.1
Pros

Summary
recomended

"Outstanding free program. Does everything I need."
Version: PhotoScape 3.6.1
Pros
Free
Multiple edit options
Easy to useCons
None I've found
Summary
Granted, I don't like to tweak my photos too much so my needs are very basic, but Photoscape exceeds all those needs. Best of all it's free and easy to use. I recommend it to anyone who is looking to resize, crop and alter photos.

"Like this program, use it all the time."
Version: PhotoScape 3.6.1
Pros
Well thought out program, easy to use.
Cons
Keeps asking you to up date even after you have.
-
"Bit frustrating - used other programs too many years?"
Version: PhotoScape 3.6.1
Pros
Small footprint. Decent GUI.
Cons
Somewhat less than intuitive. Not very useful help file. Only seems to address the few basic items which are common commands. I hope I din't miss something, but I grew weary quickly of looking for comprehensive documentation.
Summary
I'll check out others before settling on PhotoScape.
I may have been expecting too much from a free program.
