Photo Pos Pro is a software program for editing and correcting digital images. It is intended both for professionals and for amateur photographers.
Overall, this program doesn't necessarily have enough features to qualify as a must-have for professional photographers or photo editors. While it does offer a good list of special effects, many of them probably wouldn't be used on professional photos. The Frames feature, for example, has very simple frames. They aren't really "classic" as the program suggests. Features like Red Eye Reduction, Sharpen Image and Brightness/Contrast, however, are useful and perform well. We did notice that some of the special effects didn't look the same on the preview and the actual image, which was another negative aspect.
On Startup, we liked the fact that it showed tips, which you can see on every Startup. Those were very helpful in explaining some of the lesser-known features and showing the potential of this software. Our opinion that this program should only be used for simple editing and special effects, however, still stands. A professional photographer wouldn't really like this.
The download process took longer than most other downloads since it was a larger file. Between the download time and installation time, it probably took about 8 to 10 minutes, and we couldn't minimize the download page for part of that time. So, it was not the greatest installation experience.

The only point here is the resolution it was designed for. I have 1920x1080 screen. This makes the Icons and text sooo small, I can hardly use it. An option to change Icon size would be a great advantage.
Summary
Great piece of freeware here that does an excellent job. I don't understand the problems others seem to have with installing??? I Installed it on a windows7 system with no problems. I particularly liked the "mouse-over" dialog boxes that automatically appear\disappear, no need to open and close them. Good thinking!

Parts of the GUI are perhaps a bit quirky but easily mastered, Offers a competent feature set for both experienced user and beginners. Text (with various effects) can be exported as standalone object with alpha channel (transparent background).
Cons
There are areas that could use some improvement but how can you knock a free program with so many features.
Summary
Certainly not up to par with the likes of Adobe Elements or Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo, but a good place to start for those who aren't quite ready to drop $100 on an image editing program. Kudos to the developer for keeping this package alive as freeware!

Photo POS, is the closest thing out there to Photoshop in my opinion. It's great that is free. I love using it. My boyfriend and I use it to make slides for our Church. Everyone seems to like them.

When I install a product on my computer, I want only what I am looking for, no "forced" extras with install, on paid or free programs. This product wanted a toolbar installed, and appeared to want "phone home" priviliges. JUST SAY NO TO TOOLBARS!!!!!
