This free application gives you the same instant access to a variety of weather-related information as most programs of its kind. After downloading and installing the program, you'll have to enter your name, e-mail address, and zip code. You'll then need to grant Personal MicroCast Weather Desktop Icon access to the Internet, where it will immediately launch the company's Web site, which is in turn linked to one of your local weather stations. The Web page display bears a striking resemblance to that of the WeatherCenter's Personal Forecast subscriber page. You'll gain information such as the upcoming forecast, current temperature, wind speed, dew point, and humidity, among other things. Though several maps and radars are available free of charge, users will have to shell out some cash if they want additional features included on their personalized weather forecasts. Overall, this program isn't more readily accessible than, nor does it offer anything above and beyond, the weather information available on the Internet.
