"The best at defragging, far from the best at automating"
Version: PerfectDisk 8
Pros
It does a great job defragging thoroughly.
Offline defrags work nicely, and unlike a popular competitor, it has never corrupted my file system when performing one.
Very simple interface--easy to use.
Can optionally be run at idle priority, and can throttle its disk I/O, to mitigate the performance impact of defragging.
Cons
There is one main "con" to PerfectDisk, and it is a gripe I have had for years: Unlike many competitors, they still have not added a fully-automatic defrag feature.
Yes, there is a screen saver defrag feature. But I don't use screen savers--I lock my computer each time I walk away. And if the workstation is locked, the screen saver will not run!
Run defrags on a schedule? No can do. There are many serious problems to this:
* For one thing, I often use my computer late at night. When to schedule a defrag? 2:00 AM? Sometimes I'm still working. 8:00 AM? Sometimes I'm reading the news online. 5:00 PM? Sometimes I'm using my computer...for whatever.
* I have other disk-intensive things going on. My anti-virus application does scans on a schedule. (I wish the AV vendor would add an automatic mode for this, but...fat chance.) Sometimes I start a backup late at night, and I don't want a defrag kicking off in the middle of that. And so on.
* I often add large files to my disk--videos, music files, 3D games--whatever. Automatic defrags would take care of this. But no... With PerfectDisk, I have to manually defrag. Very inconvenient!
There are many competitors that have a fully-automated background defrag feature. Why not PerfectDisk? WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR?
Oh, one other thing: The voting system is based on "Helpful/Not Helpful", and not "I Agree/I Don't Agree".

"Good, efficient, useful"
Version: PerfectDisk 8
Pros
This is a great program that delivers on the promise. It works fast (much faster than the Windows defragger) and the interface is easy to understand. My PC runs faster and loading is a dream. Friendly customer service too!

"crash my laptop asus G1"
Version: PerfectDisk 8
Cons
my laptops crash when I do a analysis. I try shutting down bit defender, uninstalled PC lock (as recomended on their website), but it still crash It also take away the my system restore point. It seems that there are some conflicts to some software around. Overall its too much trouble. Even if it works, I still have to shut down my windows defender everytime I defrag and turn it on again. Hope they will do a patch soon.
Its a no no for me. I am now using Auslogics now. Free and no malware etc.. and best of all, no blue screen anymore.

"The Best In Its Class"
Version: PerfectDisk 8
Pros
Have used Diskeeper 9,10 for several years and gave this package a try. I have a very powerful machine with over 1500 pieces of software and many thousands of files, four printers, scanner, camera, and four other USB devices connected. It normally took me over five minutes to boot this machine. After installing Perfect Disk 8.0 my install time was reduced to just over one minute and the machine appears to have a new snappier life. At first I thought it was my imagination, but happy to say it was not. This program is very well engineered and very nicely designed with a simple user
interface that is easy to follow even without any manual. Tech support and customer support are real people and they do a great job.
Cons
Haven't found any yet, but if I do I'll list them later.

"I HAD been using Diskeeper for 10 years. NO LONGER!"
Version: PerfectDisk 8
Pros
The product is much easier on system resources than Diskeeper 2007. It also is much easier to control the settings. Unlike Diskeeper, it has auto-update. Diskeeper actually in Vista, raised the fragmented files even on a cold-boot defrag. Not so with Perfect disk. Fragmented files went from over 100 with Diskeeper to under 2 with Perfectdisk.
Cons
The only issue, minor at that, is scheduling auto-defrag. Instead of being able to schedule every few hours, it must be scheduled on daily, weekly, or on a monthly basis.

"Fantastic Product"
Version: PerfectDisk 8
Pros
I spent several years as the IT manager for a 300-person company and I used Raxco PerfectDisk on all of my servers. It was the only product to be Microsoft Certified for all of the new MS products when they were released. W2K Server, W3K Server, Exchange, SQL 2K Server, etc...
Cons
None
