"great software - use it and love it."

    June 1, 2014  |   By ChoiceVoice

    Version: PeerBlock 1.2

    Pros

    -very, very light on system.
    -has portable to try out.
-many lists to choose from - also excellent default lists.
-really illuminating to see how many odd ips your system are hooking up with automatically (even when you're not on the internet). and you can block them.
    -good malware and adware protection.
    -good for p2p enthusiasts.
-now good for 64 bit computers.

    Cons

    -need ipv6 support.
-does not run as service, so harder to autostart. i used task scheduler to auto start it and works perfect (win 7, 64 bit). google it to find out how.(i use portable, maybe that's why it wouldn't run as service lol... ???).

    Summary

excellent addition to layered protection. know who your system is talking too. i used a comodo product a couple years ago (long since uninstalled), and was surprised to see my system still hooking up to them: not any more.

lol, you need to look up fascism. the program is independent of the I-blocklist's developer(s). and there are different developers for different lists. you choose what to download or to run. you can even make up your own lists. one of the purposes of this software was to stop large corporations from locating and identifying you if you use p2p networks, and to stop large corps advertisers from hooking up to your system. i receive an active log of all connections and can research them and block or unblock them. so, you can see that this program is actually anti-fascist (though i doubt you understand the reasoning as to why). oh, i guess it is open source, perhaps you'll call it communist now.

likely, you can't be this obtuse and must work for an entertainment establishment that wishes to track copyrite violations and sue people that use p2p software. again, the irony is you are defaming this company and are opening yourself up to a libel lawsuit yourself. putz.

    "Awesome little program"

    February 18, 2014  |   By hypernoobie

    Version: PeerBlock 1.2

    Pros

-You will have control of what is or is not blocked.
-Simple pre-made lists are available for the not so tech-savy.
    -Free

    Cons

-Some advanced technical knowledge, e.g. understanding how IP addresses work, is needed in order to tailor the block list for each individual.

    Summary

As for the review written by RnSpn on Jan/24/2014, you haven't done your homework. You are not forced to block anything. You can visit any website and share any bit of information you would like while using Peerblock. You can create your own blocking lists. Or you can edit a previously made template. Or for simplicity, you can just use whatever lists are already created and call it good.

    "Fascist Software"

    January 24, 2014  |   By RnSpn

    Version: PeerBlock 1.2

    Pros

Might protect you, assuming you can trust the provider of the blocklists.

    Cons

PeerBlock is in a revenue-sharing agreement with I-blocklist, which collects and publishes IP addresses of sexual minorities, and the general manager has expressed interest in expanding this to include homosexuals and BDSM fans.

    Summary

I wouldn't use PeerBlock because I have no reason to trust people who show no concern for human rights. What is their real agenda?
