"Roots Itself in System Volume Information Folder"
Version: Pazera Free MOV to AVI Converter 1.5
Pros
The only reason why I gave this software 1/2 star is because there's nothing lower.
Cons
If you would like to know why I gave this software such a bad review is because it buries itself deep within your System Volume Information folder, which encompasses your computer's System Restore Points.
I've given my full explanation as a reply to a previous comment with @ad3elprz user. "Ctrl F" on keyboard and search "remove". You'll see his review and my comments under his. -
"Does well what expensive programs do"
Version: Pazera Free MOV to AVI Converter 1.5
Pros
Downloaded from C-Net without a problem. Got a notice from my antivirus, scanned it, no problems. Installed nicely and allowed me to determine installation location. That's important to me.
Editing a large video project and had to transfer files between PC and Mac. Weird codecs made this almost impossible. Pazera Free handled conversions with ease, both Mac-to-PC and PC-to-Mac (PC couldn't read the mov files properly).
Recommend highly for any level of user. Easy for the nontechnical, yet offers great advanced conversions for both audio and video files. Seems to handle all codecs.Cons
The interface could be a bit daunting for a first-time entry-level user. It's very straight forward if you're experienced. The "from-to" part is not real clear. Selecting parameters could be a bit more straightforward.
Summary
I'd recommend this highly for advanced users who want an all-in-one FREE (!) converter. I didn't check out the help files so I can't really say how this would be for a rookie - except that if you can figure out how to tell it where the file is located and where you want it saved, then you're good to go!

"stay away from this"

Pros

Cons
Installs an unwanted search toolbar and changes your home page.
Summary
I can't believe cnet would host malware.

"Changed home page and added search tabq"
Version: Pazera Free MOV to AVI Converter 1.5
Pros
It did 3gp file conversions as promised. But given the installation issues noted below, I no longer trust the software developer and I uninstalled the program after one use.
Cons
Even though I declined the options offered during installation, the installation program changed my Firefox home page to Yahoo.com and added a search tab tailored to Yahoo.
Summary
Installed unwanted components in Firefox without permission or notification. I can't trust it.

"This download *IS* acting as a trojan for something."
Version: Pazera Free MOV to AVI Converter 1.5
Pros
I still got the program Free Panzera convert MOV to AVI, but also got past my A/V with a registry cleaner program. Used MOV conversion programs once, and it seemed to work well, and on a original file sized 653MB to output AVI file of 127MB. AVI loaded well into Windows Live Movie Maker well enough, and a short viewing run of the first 15 seconds of the video ran well. But caviat: I haven't checked the performance of the output file beyond that, and a post-install A/V scan turned up nothing malicious. I intend to check further the capability and reliability of the Panzera app later with more videos, and intend to update my review then.
Cons
Another program got in with the download. Whether or not it came from CNET, I don't know. It was a registry cleaner app, that did not trip off my A/V alarm, and I conducted the download from CNET because I trust their reputation. The first attempted download was the original site www.pazera-software.com and *THAT* attempted download triggered an A/V alarm, so I cancelled. I noted onthe the website that the domain alias really takes you to pazera-software.pl . The CNET download when installed did two things immediately noticed: 1) the browser home page in Firefox was changed to Yahoo! with a default tab installed, and a search bar; 2) it installed a registry cleaner util which I don't recall being informed about. Then without prior notice, the registry cleaner launched and immediately went to work on the registry, and there was no feature giving you the choice "Do you want to continue" or to pause or cancel or exit the program. I had to use Task Manager to exit.
Summary
So far, the original intended download application of Free Panzera converter MOV to AVI worked well, but note that it's only a first impression. The downside is that two changes are made to your machine in order to get this software: first change to the browser, which I remember WAS given as a choice before the download -- that you could either accept the browser change or not get the software by cancelling the download altogether and; second change was to install a program that directly affects your operating system, and launches without warning, immediately making changes to your registry system, without your option to pause, cancel or exit the utility. You weren't even notified of the pre-emptive failsafe you could do as a user: create a system restore point *BEFORE* the utility launches, to have the original state to fall back onto. I don't know about you, but I seriously am wary of anything that takes away that much control I have over my own machine, yet has such a profound effect to what it does. The good thing was that after I cancelled using Task Manager, I was able to find the uninstall feature in the Add/Remove Programs section in Control Panel. So, in that respect, they are giving the administrator choices. In summary, be on your guard, please return to comment if you notice other affects to your machine that I did not mention, and if you do choose to download and you do notice the two changes behaving in a malicious manner, list them here in the review. I, so far, recommend the download of this converter, but not if you're unprepared for issues other than the converter app.

"Worked Perfectly First Time"
Version: Pazera Free MOV to AVI Converter 1.5
Pros
Worked correctly with no issues. I needed to convert .mov to .avi so I could edit it with Sony Vegas 11. Spent hours searching with no results tried this, it worked.
Cons
Tried to install spyware of some sort? McAfee Blocked it though
Summary
Great piece of software!

"Weird, fast-forward results."
Version: Pazera Free MOV to AVI Converter 1.5
Pros
Since the program was unusable, none.
Cons
The .avi created was in fast forward, with serious sound distortion that lasted even after the picture stopped moving.
An "end user agreement" popped up during the download that was not for the converter, but for a sales service of some sort...clearly spam.Summary
Unusable and if you don't pay attention, you end up with more than you bargained for.

"According to Virus Total Does Not Contain Virus."
Version: Pazera Free MOV to AVI Converter 1.5
Pros
I have not as yet installed this converter, but thought I would just inform those that were thinking of downloading this and have been put off by 'Adware Alert' by other down-loaders. I have downloaded it from the Pazera site ( not from c.net)and have checked it at Virus Total. It was checked by forty three (43) anti virus programmes and came back as not containing any virus etc.
Cons
None at the moment
Summary
Check it for yourselves.
(I already have installed on my P.C. their Audio Converter and have not experienced any problems regarding virus's)
When I have installed this converter I will update my review.
