"Date added 2006 but tool vertion 2001 ?"

    by Shaker1978 on November 2, 2007

Pros: Maybe this tool has been useful once...

Cons: ... but it can't even handle NTFS properly and displays the size incorrectly. Furthermore it did not detect my extended partition + logical drive, so I stopped trying to resize my partitions...

"At last, a partitioner that works FOC."

    by mr.correct on June 22, 2007

Pros: Very good, effective and also runs smoothly and flawlessly... And also, it does all my partitions neatly. I love that... i can save lots of $$$...

Cons: Hate factor 1: Needs a disc-rewriter drive and a blankCD and needs to record that .ISO file [cap. 10MB]...

Hate factor 2: Partitioning is for intermediate users... as beginners won't know what is "Cylinders" for...

    "doesn't work"

by EngDrewman on September 9, 2006

Cons: I wasted a CD on this. It freezes while loading. I should have listened to everyone else lol. If you want to partition your hard drive, I recommend that you get either Partition Magic by symantec or get a live CD version of linux such as Knoppix and use QTparted.

"Finally a freeware! Worked flawlessly with vmware too"

by nmfiber on March 29, 2006

Pros: I had a vmware partition of 15gb but then i needed more space to install more programs. I resized the vmware disk to 30 gb. Now i needed a program that will resize primary hard disk from within the guest operating system (windows xp in this case).

I first download the famous partition magic program but the demo version doesnt do anything.

I looked around the web and found that if I use Fedora linux boot disk, the installation program has a disk partition wizard which i can use to resize the partition. Unfortunately, the disk partition program doesnt allow resize for primary partition volume (may be command line works for this case, but i didnt want to take any chances)

So I came across partition logic. This program works like magic (it should be called partition magic ;). All i had to do was to burn the iso to a CD, then reboot the guest machine. The program loaded fine and then i clicked the resize button. It asked me, whether i want to resize "both partion and filesystem" or "filesystem only". I chose the first option and entered 30000m (for 30 gb). The program took about 10 mins to resize, and then gave me a message saying "Partion is readonly, cannot backup partition table". i just pressed ok and then rebooted the guest machine (and ejected the CD).

After restart, windows xp (guest os) scan disk utility automatically kicked in. I later verified that everything worked fine and Windows Explorer showed the additional free space.

Bravo and kudos to the ppl (or person) for making this app. It saved me $$$ (partition magic or similar products cost 50 bucks).

Cons: Providing Helpful tips at various options/dialog boxes will be greatly appreciated.

    "Froze on XP"

by bobwool on March 29, 2006

Pros: Burn the ISO image to a CD and boot the PC from CD (via BIOS boot sequence).

Cons: XP Desktop: doesn't support USB mouse/kb so couldn't enter the program from splash screen after boot.

XP Laptop: froze at start of boot from CD, never got to splash screen for Partition Logic.
