"Good luck with Excel on that,"

    March 15, 2011  |   By AmeedEl-Ghoul

    Version: Parallels Desktop 6.0.11994

    Pros

You can get basic windows program on your mac when you really need them.

    Cons

Programs keeps on crashing on it.
Formulas in Excel don't work right.
Can't use more than one processor.

    Summary

1- Programs on it crashes and crashes and keeps on crashing, regardless of how many times you reinstall Windows.
2- I work mainly with large Excel files, can exceed 1GB easily, formulas don't work right, and I found out this the hard way.
If you copied those same excel files to a different computer, they work just fine.
3- I have a quad core machine with hyper threading '' which means the computer sees you actually have 8 cores '', when trying to assign

    "VMware is better..."

    March 13, 2011  |   By thompson_Matthew

    Version: Parallels Desktop 6.0.11994

    Pros

It does contain a few 'different' features to other visualization software on the market.

    Cons

The pause symbol icon bugs me and it isn't as stable (and good) as vmware fusion.

    Summary

I tried it, then vmware fusion, then bought vmware fusion.

    "Can't get support"

    March 1, 2011  |   By Wrf1984

    Version: Parallels Desktop 6.0.11994

    Pros

Good software that works seamlessly. I particularly like the ability to use it while also using my Mac. But, explained below, no software is of much use if you can't get support when you need it and won't work without it.

    Cons

CAN'T GET SUPPORT!! TWICE, now, I've purchased Kaspersky Anti-Virus from them, thru their service Digital River. NEITHER TIME has there been a way to ENTER that serial number, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get support without paying for it.

    Summary

So, I buy Kaspersky through Parallels. I try to get help when I cannot find a place to enter the serial number they gave me. When I follow their online directions, I come up with nothing other than a window that asks me to purchase it. I am NOT purchasing it twice (having already done so immediately before--I also did it months earlier but was unable to update the registration). I send an Email to the support address they give me and it INSTANTLY comes back as undeliverable. I try to get online help through chat and it tells me my help package has expired. OK: I didn't buy an additional support package, but when I buy a NEW PRODUCT from them and can't make it work, might it be too much to ask for them to offer some free support??? I don't think so.

No software is any better than your ability to use it. If something doesn't work properly these people become ABSOLUTELY INSCRUTABLE. They have managed to find a way to eliminate any and all support questions that you don't pay for.

"If you have to have a Windows program, this works."

    February 13, 2011  |   By joeyounger

    Version: Parallels Desktop 6.0.11992

    Pros

Almost don't notice it's running in coherence mode. I have it set to pause when my single (and only) windows program is running.

    No need to reboot.

    Fast.

    Cons

    You have to buy it.

    Summary

It's worth the money. It runs fast and doesn't stick Windows in your face.

"This app works so well it seems like sorcery."

    January 10, 2011  |   By mixwiz

    Version: Parallels Desktop 6.0.11992

    Pros

Running two or more whole different operating systems simultaneously, flawlessly, how do they do that? Hardly anything works as well as Parallels does.

    Cons

It would be great if USB devices like printers could switch seamlessly between OS's without any manual switching, but this is really trifling compared to how well everything works.

"No good if you can't buy it from a Mac."

    September 16, 2010  |   By doneby

    Version: Parallels Desktop 6.0.11822

    Pros

    Haven't found any yet.

    Cons

    Can't buy from a Mac.
Double charged from two separate locations. Caused hold on credit card.

    Summary

Covered before but it's amazing that a company that sells Mac Software won't let you order from a Mac. I tried and failed. Worse than that even though their website wouldn't complete the transaction they tried to charge my credit card twice - once from Europe and once from Minnesota which automatically put a hold on my credit card.
