"Ran at boot time."
Version: Panda Anti-Rootkit 1.08
Pros
Runs in the regular mode. Never found a rootkit.
Cons
Ran at boot time and it bluescreened. Had to go into safe mode and disable phooks.sys. I found out it had deleted all my system Restore files. I thought that I'd remove it manually but it starts in the files that Windows uses to boot.
Summary
You could use it on the computer of someone you hate but i suggest you run away from this nightmare and be afraid, very afraid .

"Detects Rootkits quickly and remove them cleanly."
Version: Panda Anti-Rootkit 1.08
Pros
I am surprised that it seems to detect things that most other rootkit removers do not find and seems to clean them nicely. It found a bunch of critical system files with Rootkits and removed them without a problem.
Cons
I have heard that it knows about existing rootkits but it seldom gives me a name other then unknown rootkit.
Summary
Looks very good but I am still evaluating it.

"Do not recommend"
Version: Panda Anti-Rootkit 1.08
Pros
Can't think of any.
Cons
Could not get it to run w/o crashing my system.
Summary
Completely destabilized my system. Running XP, and the system would boot, but I couldn't enter my profile w/o immediate automatic system reboot. Had to enter different profile and delete the Panda EXE. Still not sure I have everything returned to normal. Highly recommend that you stay away from this product.

"Seems to work well, but with root kits you cant be sure"
Version: Panda Anti-Rootkit 1.08
Pros
It's free, doesn't need to be installed and runs quickly and easily.
Cons
Nothing that I can see.
Summary
richie58 says it didn't work. I had an almost certain root-kit grabbing my computer and when I ran Panda ARK, it behaved as richie58 describes. I reinstalled XP and no problems - Panda ARK ran. I suspect the root-kit prevented Panda from working, but any geeks out there please correct me.

"Couldn't Get It To Work For Me"
Version: Panda Anti-Rootkit 1.08
Pros
It's a zip folder app so it doesn't install anything permanent on your drive except the zip folder of course.
Cons
Could not complete a scan. (See Summary)
Summary
I kept getting a pop up message that there is an error and the app needs to close. Thinking there might be a compatibility problem with one of my other security apps I disabled all of them including the firewall, then ran a scan with the same results. I would get to 17% of the registry scanned and get the pop up. OS: Windows XP Professional SP3
Since I couldn't get the Panda software to work I installed F-Secure Blacklight Rootkit Eliminator 2.2 to do the same job with no freezing hassles. You can download it at F-Secure's web site.

"Great but Something happened."
Version: Panda Anti-Rootkit 1.08
Pros
Works Great does exactly what I wanted BUT
Cons
A few weeks ago, after I ran it like I normally have for the past year and a 1/2, it'd scan the first category, then it'd go to the 2nd and after a few seconds I get an error from Windows saying that PAVARK.exe had encountered an error or something.
Summary
I liked it while it ran but now that it doesn't, I have to say it's not worth it until they fix it.
