"Fills a Much Needed Gap for Most People"

    November 19, 2014  |   By merkaba369

    Version: Paint.NET 4.0.3

    Pros

Love PDN, it has just the right amount of complexity for people not needing GIMP or Photoshop (and those not interested in "renting" PS month to month) but does every kind of editing the average person might need.

    Cons

Working with Text is a bit more tricky than Photoshop, but download the plugins and you'll be able to do most things well.

    Summary

Give it a try; it's free and works for most needs. (I have not had any problem with malware downloading, but I do download it from getpaint.net)

"The best free picture editing program I've ever used!"

    September 6, 2014  |   By Crystalh73

    Version: Paint.NET 4.0.3

    Pros

Paint.net is by far the best free picture editing program I've EVER used. It is so user friendly and if you have any questions there are tons of tutorials online.

    Cons

I haven't had anything go wrong in five years of using this program.

    Summary

I have downloaded it on every computer I have used (work and home) for the last 5 years. I just downloaded it onto my new work computer and didn't have any of the issues of malware or added programs I read about in some of the other reviews. The "magic wand" is my most favorite tool to use. It's so cool!!!

"I've always used this for image editing"

    July 6, 2014  |   By tomysshadow

    Version: Paint.NET 4.0

    Pros

Better interface and faster loading times and not as ugly as GIMP. Layout wise it is much more similar to MS Paint while your results will not look completely amateur. Has a huge plugin base and lots of support in their forum. Supports transparency and a decent amount of formats including Targa. Version 4.0 is way different from 3.5 but still fantastic and does everything it could before and more. It also supports layers.

    Cons

Don't install the Megalo plugin pack - that is a scam. Get the plugins and the program itself from the official site.

    Summary

    Great when installed correctly

    "DO NOT INSTALL THIS PROGRAM"

    March 17, 2014  |   By Jeannine_Lee

    Version: Paint.NET 3.5.11

    Pros

I have used Paint.net for over 5 years on different computers. Program itself is great.

    Cons

This installer includes some nasty malware that is extremely difficult to get rid of. Shame on CNET for allowing this virus-filled piece of crap to infect so many computers. I used to trust both CNET and Paint.Net- no longer.

    Summary

Download and install this if you want your computer infested with malware that is extremely difficult to get rid of.

"Works fine, I haven't had any problems."

    March 15, 2014  |   By alexmonte

    Version: Paint.NET 3.5.11

    Pros

It's just a better version of paint. It's fairly easy to use and I haven't run into any problems.

    Cons

It did ask to install some toolbars and stuff but I was able to say no and it only installed paint.net. No other problems.

    Summary

Seems to work fine for me.
