"Love this w/ one exception"
Version: Paint.NET 3.5.10
Pros
I love this program for the fact that it's "pretty much" like paintshop from Adobe with most to all of the functionality provided in the application itself or added to it via plugin extensions.
Cons
The one and only thing that I really didn't like that was missing was a point and click option for fine tuning a graphics file. ie. deleting unwanted content in file and cleaning it up for other use. There are some extensions that you can download and add on that help a bit for this but are not as good as they could be.
I have noticed some other reviews on paint.net's site that discussed this issue and apparently this has been a problem with this program now for quite some time. Like since 2005 and it's now 2012.Summary
Overall though I did very much like this program and think that with more use of it's present capabilities it is possible to obtain the same results I was looking for in another way. But the process of doing that is not very kind to people that are trying to work on something that has a time frame that is not very long to complete the project.

"Best free period. Contends with Photoshop."
Version: Paint.NET 3.5.10
Pros
There is no better free app out there. Period. Gimp comes close as it comes pre loaded more powerful than Paint.net. Nothing a few plugin install cant fix. Gimp is light years away in the user friendly bracket. Paint.net is just easy, powerful, and not a huge download at all!
Cons
Its basic platform while still great, does not come fully loaded with all the third party plugins that make this software a beast. So the only con is having to go locate and install those plugins. Essentially, no cons.
Summary
If you don't want to install plugins, then this software is best for basic to medium level editing. Grab some plugins for greatly increased power. Either way its free!

"AWESOME FREE APPLICATION!"
Version: Paint.NET 3.5.10
Pros
Its free, its easy to use, it has many great features, and I love it! I make most of my images, art, and edits on this program these days with very little use of Microsoft Paintbrush which I use to use mostly before I found this awesome program. It offers the use of layers where Paintbrush didn't making my edits & art a lot more fun & easy. If you like making transparent images or cutting the backgrounds out from images this program makes that a lot easier then most others.
Cons
None, this is an awesome program!
Summary
Get it, its to awesome to pass up!

"This is where I had my first steps"
Version: Paint.NET 3.5.10
Pros
The interface and usage is much more user friendly than Photoshop, GIMP, and especially Corel.
Cons
Certain PS plug-ins can't conform to the PDN code, but there aren't many.
Summary
There may be complaints about limited tools and features in comparison to GIMP....but wait, if you look for special plug-ins and other option on their web site, you will find that loaded with plug-ins, Paint.net is comparable and can compete with the big boys as far as being able to get more than just a decent "chop" or pic alteration. There is a special feature--if you look for it--that can make many Third-party Photoshop Plug ins compatible with PDN. As to give this program a more cutting edge feel to it. This is by far, the easiest program I've used and with Youtube instruction videos, you can master this easy program to a far better degree than the other more complex programs, and best of all.....this is free. Donations are accepted, as the developers take time from their lives to upkeep and further develop more plug ins for us to use.

"Very good for its purpose"
Version: Paint.NET 3.5.10
Pros
Very nice GUI, almost similar to Photoshop. Easy to use and works like a charm. Great for those last minute touch-ups that require more than some auto-adjust. Its simple interface makes it a great pick for anyone who wants a free image editor, without to over-kill and clutter of GIMP.
Cons
Limited on features, as opposed to GIMP. Windows only, and not portable :( .
Summary
An excellent choice for anyone who wants an easy to use image editing interface, without the clutter and confusion of a complicated professional image editor. Does what you need easily and quickly, without too many features, though this may be a good or bad thing depending on the project.

Pros
user-friendly, nice functions, neat-looking
Cons
absolutely none
Summary
i just like it.. very wonderful, free, and i like the ease of use
@fatt_mann make it a habit to download stuffs here in CNET, they are completely safe from malwares,, other sites' downloads might give you some infection by modifying the installers.. so, be cautious.. choose only sites with good reviews from users like CNET,for instance
