"Problems with paying (Paypal)"
Version: PTHPasteboard PRO 4.5.4
Pros
the possibility to synch between several computers
Cons
I purchased it using it Paypal. After 24 hours I was supposed to receive my serial number... Now, 11 days after this day I still don't have it... and the demo mode is expiring in 3 days. I wrote to the support at least 3 letters: NO REACTION at all.
Summary
I start to think this is a fraud. Very soon - when the demo version expires - I will be forced to claim against the developer at Paypal.
By careful buying it! -
"Buggy Software, Poor Design Choices"
Version: PTHPasteboard PRO 4.5.3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
After trying this in the fully functional demo mode for a week I quit out of frustration. Many of the features don't work as advertised. Copying out of MS Word, text in the pasteboard is so small as to be illegible, and the view as plaintext option doesn't work. Also duplicates entries in the pasteboard sometimes for no reason. The tooltip gets stuck and freezes. There's no way to start and stop the software except through system preferences, which is ridiculous...
Anyway, definitely not worth $25. I found an alternative, Clipboard Evolved, that does everything that PTHPasteboard is supposed to do but doesn't. It's also only $15, and it's nagware instead of a demo, so you can decide when you're ready to commit.
Don't by PTHPasteboard, it's a waste of money. -
"Ugly but Powerful"
Version: PTHPasteboard PRO 4.5.3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have tried a ton of clipboard managers, and I keep coming back to PTH Pasteboard. The app is ugly, and it has some UI issues, but, it is extremely powerful and an extremely important part of my workflow. I have not found any other app that does everything this does, and even though it doesn't look pretty it is amazing. -
"New version 4.5 released"
Version: PTHPasteboard PRO 4.4.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
PTHPasteboard Pro 4.5 has been released for Snow Leopard. I was about to go into serious withdrawal when this release came out. I've been using the free version for over a year and realised that I cannot bear to be without it - at which time I bought the pro version. Looking forward to synch the boards and creating filters. -
"Release not new; Excellent program."
Version: PTHPasteboard PRO 4.4.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
4.4.1 was released a couple of months ago. VT is way behind, as is frequently the case.
I've tried, and even own, most of the clipboard managers around. PTH Pro is the one I use. It's flexible enough that I can set the UI the way I want it and the Pro features, while not necessary, are quite helpful to me. It's reliable and has a low footprint. -
"Looks like a DEAD app to me!"
Version: PTHPasteboard PRO 4.4.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
As I noted in my comments on the free version a couple of months ago, there have been NO updates in a over a year now--not even bug fixes, and several fixes discussed in other posts below and in the other Versiontracker forum are badly needed. Moreover, links on the developer's site supposed to go to their discussion forum go to other places.
One very annoying aspect is that it's not possible to reduce the size of the "ladder" (window) without also shrinking the text size. If a user attempts to display fewer than the top 6 cells in the array, the characters are so flattened that they're unreadable. This makes the app a bad choice for anybody attempting to copy and paste frequently on a small screen, such as on a laptop. I'm not aware of a reason why this would be difficult to modify in the code.
Neither does it seem to be possible to substitute another plain-text font, like Courier, for the poorly-readable plain-text font that is displayed (Monaco, perhaps).
This is never the sort of situation registered, paying customers like me are happy to see. Time to start looking for alternatives, apparently. -
"first impressions mixed"
Version: PTHPasteboard PRO 4.4.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Iâ??m an intense typist, and I have worked with tools like clipboard managers and other typing tools since the Apple IIe. To this day, the quest for a quality clipboard manager continues. PTHPasteboard is not the answer. But after two weeks of regular use, it seems fast and stable to me. Certainly it blows the doors off iClip in the speed department. It also has some impressive power-user features. Itâ??s absolutely amazing to have my pasteboards synced across two machines, for instance.
But the GUI is a rough around the edges, which drives me nutters. It isnâ??t a deal-breaker, but Iâ??m a Mac-user, and I want visual polish. There are practical implications to: ugly UI elements are also often harder to understand, and there are certain parts of the UI that are as cryptic as a CLI. The developer needs to hire someone who understands interfaces!
I sent the developer an easy question two weeks ago and never got an answer. Never a great sign. -
"Too easy to erase"
Version: PTHPasteboard PRO 4.4.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I bought Pasteboard, after using it for almost a year and I have managed to erase my boards twice. I have emailed the developer with a request to put the eraser somewhere where it cannot be accessed by accident, but I have had no response.
On the whole, this is a most useful app, but it has some quirks that make it unreliable, and the ease of erasing months of work is dangerous.
Feedback from the developer would be appreciated. -
"Needs interface work"
Version: PTHPasteboard PRO 4.4.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I would buy PTHPasteboard if the dev made it more practical. #1 let you choose an interface that is more streamlined like iSnip was for Tiger where it came up in an attached window in the Apple menu bar instead of a separate window (which also helps with naming folders in the finder - see below) and would limit the size of the space for each clip to one line so you aren't scanning around everywhere with your mouse/trackpad like you do with PTHPasteboard to simply and quickly insert some text somewhere.
Also, I can't stand how PTHPasteboard won't work with pasting text into folders in the Finder. If you highlight the Folder name and then go to PTHPasteboard to paste into the area it deselects the Folder and you are unable to paste into the Folder name field. Very annoying and iSnip did this beautifully.
Keep all the added features of PTHPasteboard available for those who dig it, but please.. please... please... make the thing more practical for power users who crave speedy functionality over bells and whistles.
Otherwise, I'll just wait for free iSnip to come back to OS X (the dev is working on it for Leopard now) and won't ever buy PTHPastboard. I'm just simply more productive with iSnip. -
"great product!"
Version: PTHPasteboard PRO 4.2.5
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have tried a variety of "clipboard extenders" that keep a stack of previously used items in the clipboard. All of them were found wanting except PTH pasteboard! I couldn't live without this software, and use it every day, multiple times.
