"PC Wizard 2012 does work in Windows 8 Pro 64-bit"
Version: PC Wizard 2012 2.11
Pros
Give you the option of selecting what you scan your computer for.
Cons
When the scan get's 87% complete it will crash and cause a runtime! error. Windows 8 Pro will try to find a solution and fix it. Then it restarts the scan all over again and still crash at 87% over and over and so forth. I end up having to use the task manager to close out the program.
Summary
PC Wizard 2012 crashes in Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.

"Works great but now installs a bunch of adware."
Version: PC Wizard 2012 2.11
Pros
Installed on a different computer two years ago with no problems. It probably saved the machine because it made me realize how hot it was running. Appears to work just as well as it did then.
Cons
Installed a bunch of crap on my computer and tried to install even more. It tried to sneakily install a bunch of things, of which I said no to, but then discovered there were even more. I had no issues two years ago and I usually trust cnet, but I guess I can't anymore.

"Utlilty is alright; installs Adware"
Version: PC Wizard 2012 2.11
Pros
The utility works alright, and does what it says it does
Cons
It installs Adware/Malware. You will notice very quickly after the install that you will have a popup by your system tray alerting you to apparent viruses you have. Don't even bother with this program.
Summary
I no longer trust CPUID after this crap. Ridiculous...

"Didn't work for me"
Version: PC Wizard 2012 2.11
Pros
None that I know of.
Cons
Could not validate the program to get it to work, tried twice, waste of time!

"Lots of information. Printer support could be better."
Version: PC Wizard 2012 1.961
Pros
Finds information and allows you to choose the bit you are interested in. I got it to check the cooling on my machine and one icon does just that. All the voltages and temperatures are in one place. If you want the grand tour of your machine, I got a 36 page report by selecvting "show details". It tells you all you need to know (?) without taking the side off the machine.
Cons
It is Freeware so it can't be expected to be a Rolls-Royce. My only gripes are that
a) I am old fashioned and find a menu list much easier to navigate than the collection of icons.
b) Printer support is poor, namely:
1) Why does it have no filing margine at the left hand edge of the page?
2) Why does it rerun the hardware scan before it prints?
3) Why does it override "preview" from the printer driver?Summary
It is still about the best product of it's type.

"Nice little program!"
Version: PC Wizard 2012 1.961
Pros
Told me everything I wanted to know about my PC and more. It did take a few minutes (less then five) after it started running to get a hang of how everything worked and where to find the info I was looking for.
Cons
I does have a few free clinger programs in the install. Mostly a ask toolbar and it will change you home page but if you read the options as you install it you can unclick the automatic yes and it will not install ask toolbar nor will it change your homepage. If that is the requirement for getting an amazingly helpful utility program for those who do not want to spend hours or days trying to find the information otherwise, it is fine by me.
Summary
Wish I had stumbled upon this years ago.

"Garbage Program"
Version: PC Wizard 2012 1.961
Pros
None, this thing does NOT work!
Cons
Causes my computer to lock up on hardware search. Interface is cheap and obsolete. There are typos on text, what does that tell you about the code? Yikes!

"hijacker - avoid it!"
Version: PC Wizard 2012 1.961
Pros
probably does what you want, like plenty of others - didnt spend much time checking it out, see cons
Cons
Without asking, the install changes your start page, tries to change your default search engine, installs incredimail app and toolbar, and another app called 'conduit engine'. Uninstalled all this and the pc-wizard app immediately, now I have to run registry and spyware checks to see what else it did - thanks for the warning, cnet!
Summary
installing this is a good way to test your security - if you dont have warnings popping up left and right, you need to tighten it up. Be sure to do a registry backup before installing so you can restore afterwards to be sure it's all cleaned out.
