"Total Waste of Time... Worthless Piece Of Sh*t"

    May 24, 2011  |   By isobar73

    Version: PC Tune-Up 2.0

    Pros

    I can't see any.

    Cons

Download is fast, but scan takes forever. Keeps freezing up, and when it finally finishes, it won't fix anything until you PAY!!! Why did I Google "Free Software" and get a program that I need to PAY FOR to use?

    Summary

This program is a waste of time. Unless you feel like sitting there FOREVER, and watching as the computer freezes up and then be forced to PAY for the software when it was suppose to be free, I wouldn't waste my time if I were you!

"Can't prove that it works with trial version."

    December 4, 2010  |   By Zeuded

    Version: PC Tune-Up 2.0

    Pros

It (the software) doesn't take very long to download, even on a slow computer.

    Cons

Why would any one buy anything without trying it? Download the trial version and find out that it won't "fix" 75% of the problems without a full version purchase.

    Summary

A trial version of software should make you want to buy it, this software doesn't. It's a waste of time downloading it (thank goodness it doesn't take very long).

"Reliable and does what it says it will"

    September 18, 2010  |   By dgc49

    Version: PC Tune-Up 2.0

    Pros

Significantly sped up my computer the first time I used it. I not only finds and corrects registry errors, it also fragments the registry making the computer even faster.

    Cons

If run with Zone Alarm Security Suite or Extreme Security, you need to turn of the program firewall otherwise some repairs will not take. PC Tune Up 2 doesn't check to be sure repairs are made so you must verify the repairs yourself.

    Summary

It's a good idea to run PC Tune Up 2 several times to make sure it catches and repairs all problems. It took me a while to figure out that the Zone Alarm Program Firewall was interfering with PC Tune Up 2. I found after some testing that turning off the ZA Program Control when running PC Tune Up, the problem was fixed. Other Security Suites may cause this same problem so be alert to this. It is not necessary to lower the Internet Firewall when running PC Tune Up. You need to remember to reset the Program Control (program firewall) after you are done running PC Tune Up. I consider that a minor inconvenience, other wise I would have given PC Tune UP 2 Five Stars instead of the Four Stars I gave it.

"What a waste of time and money. Stay away."

    May 21, 2010  |   By -uragod-

    Version: PC Tune-Up 1.3.2.9

    Pros

    Has a nice looking box.
The name change to CA from Computer Associates to distance themselves from all the scandal, corruption and bad press is a nice touch. It almost made me forget.

    Cons

    Crashed two separate machines.
Tech support either couldn't read or understand my very clear chat request. I had to reiterate several times.

    Summary

I do computer repair for a living. I cringe when I see CA products, but I'll be specific. PC Tune-Up 2.0 arrived on a blue-screening computer. I uninstalled the product, computer works fine. Turned out to be a driver conflict with Nvidia Nforce drivers. Tried latest driver, tried oldest driver, no luck. How do you not spot this in beta?? Tech support had no idea what to do besides gather the crash log. I installed the software on a different test computer with a different chipset network card and it crashed on reboot too. O for 2. This product is garbage. Hey CA, if you're reading this, how many CEO's have to go to jail for fraud before you just give it up??
