right click on the program and select Run as Admin.
It'll work. -

"It is not free"
Version: PC Inspector Smart Recovery 4.5
Pros
It found files
Cons
Lots, but only to do with the companies deceptive practices. And I bet they do sell you email address.
Summary
They do not tell you that you have to buy this for $50. If its not free then do not have it in the free section of CNET. I blame CNET just as much as ParetoLogic. After running this over night it found my files, but then it tells me to recover them you have to purchase the product. After it did that there is no way I would ever buy anything from these people. To me this is a deceptive practice. I would have given it no stars if it would have let me.

"Definitely Works... but limited functionality"
Version: PC Inspector Smart Recovery 4.5
Pros
-Will read corrupt or bad SD cards (tested) and other corrupt hard drives
-Will read and find deleted files and different file types
-Freeware and no virusesCons
- On recovery, it asked to rename files and enter a file to place recovered files in- but was no option to maintain the original file name.
- Can't search for individual files
-No preview option
-Few recovered pictures were not complete -gray areaSummary
Used to recover a corrupt Kingston Class 10 SDhc card. If you need it to recover everything on a hard drive or flash media then it will definitely work. However, it is a very basic type of software with not a lot of options as far as maintaining file name or searching for specific files. See cons but it could save your butt for free. Going to try and use this on some corrupt data CD's

"Simply works; takes a while, only short video clips"
Version: PC Inspector Smart Recovery 4.5
Pros
Installed easily, ran overnight, once 'quick scan' was off the table. 'Thorough scan' mode worked, from 01:00 to 15:00, on an old Dell GX270, 2.8GHz P4, WinXP-SP2 (fresh re-install) in the first partition. Two runs for JPGs, then AVIs.
Cons
OK, it's that superior German Engineering - just a touch of arrogance, but it's hard to really complain. Not sure why it didn't keep more than the 20-second clips of several-minute AVIs; is that a teaser for a full-featured pricey version?
Summary
On a scrambled (gibberish-filenames) SD-HC 4GB card from a friend (Larry Wines') FujiFilm , it found and restored 47 JPGs, and 30 (20-second) AVIs; couple JPGs were only a quarter there, but compared to having zero irreplacable moments in acoustic music, that's impressive. Bob Stane of The Coffee Gallery Backstage, performing with acts on his own stage; unheard-of event.
Ubuntu (Lucid Lynx 10.04LTS) complained "Error splicing file; I/O error" at almost every one, and could only copy a couple JPGs, but what it could see of the AVIs (4) were MUCH longer. May have to try again, look for an option to "save entire AVI". -
"Worked flawlessly - Very impressed!"
Version: PC Inspector Smart Recovery 4.5
Pros
Super easy to use ... Select three choices, where to search, for what, and where to save. Hit search and you're on the way to recovery!
Cons
No cons. It was not especially fast, but that mattered not when compared against the prospect of 400 lost media files.
Summary
Simple, easy to use and it works perfectly.

"It works!!"
Version: PC Inspector Smart Recovery 4.5
Pros
It does what you expect for. It's easy to install and use. It recovered more than 95% of my cellphone pictures I thought I've lost; and it's free!!
Cons
Don't know if anyone else had this problem, but I couldn't run it on my laptop with Windows Vista. On a XP PC it runned without any problem. A bit slow but who cares! I've got my pictures back!!!
Summary
Again: It really works!!
