    "One Top Newsreader"

    February 10, 2006  |   By Peken

    Version: Ozum All-in-One Newsreader 4

    Pros

After a lot of Google searching, and trying out most of the free Newsreaders, I stumbled on this one. After the evaluation period I bought it - my only Newsreader now. Ozum is easy to setup, simple to handle, and very stable. 4 stars to product. The fifth star is for a very fast responding and very friendly support - rare these days!

"A GREAT newsreader that will save you time and money by sampling"

    February 6, 2006  |   By jimmyjoeski

    Version: Ozum All-in-One Newsreader 4

    Pros

Although the interface seems intimidating at first, once you use it a couple of times it becomes second nature.I have used this program since the original version and version 4, with it's preview and search,is the best version yet. Tech support is excellent, Had some minor issues in version 3+ that were quickly resolved by them.A rarity these days. This is the only newsgroup poster that I have used for the last year.Very very easy to use with it's drag and drop feature. Sampling of files before you download them is a great money saver if you pay for a news service. An A+ program

    "I did not like this!"

    December 18, 2005  |   By benflash

    Version: Ozum All-in-One Newsreader 3.12 build 1187

    Pros

    None .... for me

    Cons

The look and GUI of this software is terrible . Nasty design and detail with too many windows and cofusing directions. Its not free or cheap so deserves this level of critique.Back to free, imperfect, Grabbit for me. The search continues for a better reader.

    Ozum Uninstalled and Deleted.

"Take this for what it's worth; I've barely begun to use the trial"

    November 4, 2005  |   By saffronaaron

    Version: Ozum All-in-One Newsreader 3.11 build 1185

    Pros

Not entirely sure as I've just begun to use the 30day trial. One claimed advantage is that user need not download the entire available list of headers, which can be millions. Trying to download these (just headers, not their attachments) can stress a weak PC to the point of crashing, or at least v. slow operations.

    Cons

Well, Ozum trumpeted the ability to preview individual fragments of large files posted to help user decide if a file is likely to be what s/he wanted. But it CANNOT do this if the files are .rar format (and other formats). Well, I don't know many split files that ARE NOT in .rar format. Here's exactly what Ozum's Help text says under "3.5":

"The following formats are currently supported: AVI, ASF, MPG/MPEG and RM--for video and WAV and MP3--for audio files. We currently are unable to show previews of files that have been first compressed; in zip, rar or any other format; and then posted."

Well, I would have thought MOST newsreaders can do that. As I say take this review for what its worth; check for yourself. I'm no expert.
