Original Unreal Tournament demo User Reviews

"Dated? Yes. But still bloody awesome."
Version: Original Unreal Tournament demo
Pros
The best thing about this game is that it runs well on older systems. I used to run it on a 933MHz Win XP system, and it worked fine. I'm now running it on a 1.5GHz (yes, still old) laptop with only 1.5Gb of RAM and 8Mb of video RAM, running Win 7 Ultimate, and it still runs fine. Fun graphics, nice old-school FPS.
Cons
Being the demo version, it's lacking a lot of the weapons and levels, characters, and the higher gore (gib) level of the full version. Other than that, no issues.
Summary
This is a great go-to to have on any system if you don't get to play FPS games a whole lot and your computer system isn't the greatest. If you have a nice system, there are better demos you could get, but this one is a great (if practically vintage), low-footprint way to kill a few hours happily blasting away. It's also an excellent addition to any comprehensive library of classic FPS games... if you have Castle Wolfenstein and DOOM, you absolutely must have Unreal Tournament.

"Easy and Good"
Version: Original Unreal Tournament demo
Pros
If you like FPS you have to like Unreal Tournament.
MP,SP or host your own MP server and ability to add bot AI. Weapons are well thought out. Option for software rendering, 3d support or openglide support to play.Cons
Most gamers have migrated to newer games so the game while having its glory days is showing its age. Don't expect to see hundreds to thousands of online players still actively playing on a regular basis.
Summary
One of the best FPS to ever come out, Runs descent on almost any pc from Pentium 4 or socket A chipset with a simple graphic card. I own the Full Version and still played the demo because its that entertaining and easy to get working.

"The best FPS game ever, bar none."
Version: Original Unreal Tournament demo
Pros
Something about the way the physics works in UT is immensely satisfying, it 'feels' good when you're navigating around each map.
Stand-out features: the double-strafe (dodge) move, the translocator (local teleporter - as a weapon, or to reach inaccessible areas), the 6-loader rocket launcher (with 5 firing modes), the shock-combo (the most beautifully deadly weapon you'll ever heft).
Active community at utdemo.com
Cons
Some people have problems running the game in XP/Vista, variously due to NVidia driver settings and VSync.
