    "Opera 8.5 leads the pack!"

by goldengreeke on September 21, 2005

Pros: Pros: Opera 8.5 is the fastest browser I have ever used. This new version of Opera leaves FireFox and IE far behind in the dust. I can't say enough good things, except try it yourself-It's FREE. 5 BIG Stars and TWO thumbs WAY UP!

Hi, why does not Microsoft make a better browser? Can they not? Lack of resources! Bad programmers, not clever enough! Maybe they like that Firefox has a market share of about 25 percent? Maybe they are not aggressive enough to respond to new market conditions? I think that the answers to all these questions are obviously, NO! It might be that they like some adware as "tracking cookies"? Can they make money on these "tracking cookies"? I love liberty and free enterprise and in that system, no one has the right to violate peoples rights (as property rights as yours and mine computers are our private properties) against there will, and install adware into theirs machines. Microsoft is not installing adware by making a bad browser, but they might not be interested in making a good one. I must say also, I am not against Microsoft! They have revolutionized the market many times. The people have voted for them by bying their softwares! But I just do not think they want all adware to perish. I think that Microsoft has another definition on what is adware. I am just making a speculation! I like your reviews, goldengreeke! Good to "listen" to someone who knows more about softwares than I do! To you I say: 5 stars and two thumbs way up! Keep it on! Best Regards, Bjorn Lundahl, Gothenburg, Sweden

ANOTHER RAVE REVIEW from goldengreek, as usual.

Your comments such as, "Terrific Software!" and "5 huge stars and two thumbs way up!", have become meaningless because you lavish them on so many applications.

Another thing I wonder about is how you manage to get so many positive user comments on your reviews.

I have also noticed that many of your reviews manage to garner 20 or more positive user comments within mere minutes of your posting them. Why you must have 20 or 30 people who are on standby at all times, hanging on your every word here, ready and willing to give you a positive rating.

You really should start your own religion or run for President or something.

In response to the person who said that one should not expect a "customizable/personal" browser with Opera..... well, that's just plain wrong. No offense, but Opera provides more areas for customizing than any other browser.

No offense taken. Anything is better than Internet Explorer. Firefox is ok.

I know that Opera is faster and all that other good stuff, but I've got Firefox and (fyi) I swithed to it from Internet Explorer 6.0 and (fyi) I instantly liked it. Anyway...Firefox is very customizable and I tried out Opera and I just can't settle in to how it is set up. So for those who are considering Opera...if you are use to a customized and personal browser like Firefox then I'm gonna tell you not to get your hopes up for that kind of browser that is also the fastest and better of internet browser. No offense to Opera users...it's a personal thing.

Are you sure you have all the latest Java updates? Did you go to the Sun-Java download page and check if you have the latest version? And then again, Opera can't function in all sites because Microsoft will block it, one example is Yahoo's LaunchCast music and videos. If you want, you could try a different browser. 'Free Browser' is a new one I downloaded and it seems as fast as Opera. Let me know, wish I could be of more help
