    "Going back to Firefox"

    December 29, 2013  |   By zeitfliesst

    Version: Opera 18.0.1284.68

    Pros

Speed might be improved from v.12

    Cons

As mentioned before, no bookmarks, and many features from v.12 is now gone.

    Summary

Since v.18 is missing many features that I was used to from previous versions, I have been holding up with version 12.16, but I decided that I can't keep using a browser that's no longer going to be updated or maintained, since it's going to be vulnerable to security threats. Besides, it has been crashing and slowing to a crawl recently for some reason. I am now going back to Firefox for now until Opera makes substantial improvements to its current development.

    "handicapped a great thing"

    December 25, 2013  |   By ChoiceVoice

    Version: Opera 18.0.1284.68

    Pros

    -fast
    -stash feature is ok
-still has fast loading panels or start up boxes or fast dials or whatever they're called
-used to be leaders in antiphishing, and suppose they still are (they had acquired an antiphishing company a while back that was the best).
    -chrome like without the spying.
-great developers that will continue to work on this product.

    Cons

-has acquired many of chromes disadvantages (a dozen running processes etc, but not all - ex. not messing with my startup) but also lacks some of chromes selling points (many of the apps, sandboxing).
    -lost integrated mail
-bookmarks missing (which is not explained and frustrating cuz i searched for them for ever) - apparently stash is a similar new way for this? and there are some crude apps for this that i don't like yet.

    Summary

poo compared to what it was:(

    but ok to use.

    Updated on Dec 25, 2013

further note: on my linux, the new opera is very nice on my resources and doesn't seem to suffer the same memory freeze ups that chrome and firefox do.

    "Was Great, now ruined!"

    December 18, 2013  |   By johnbok

    Version: Opera 18.0.1284.68

    Pros

    None for old users

    Cons

No control as before, veiw options gone, bookmarks gone. Why oh why did they break a great browser and come up with this rubbish?

    Summary

I have been an Opera user for many years, but I will not be using this version, ever. I tried it twice now, the second with more patience. All that gave Opera an edge over other browsers has gone and we have a minimilist idea that just doesnt cut it. When is the funeral for this once brilliant software?

"Was good until the current version"

    December 18, 2013  |   By shaughncannon

    Version: Opera 18.0.1284.68

    Pros

    Good sturdy browser

    Cons

Absolutely no bookmarks manager at all. Dropped this browser for Firefox. You can activate the bookmarks bar but there is no other way to do bookmarks in this version.

    Summary

If they would put a full bookmarks manager back in then I would rate it a full 5 stars. Otherwise pick another browser.

    Summary

    "Might be the last straw."

    December 6, 2013  |   By Dave48840

    Version: Opera 18.0.1284.49

    Pros

Better compatibility with a few sites

    Cons

Well everything really. I see no reason to bother running this version as opposed to just going with Firefox or Chrome.

The same locked down/missing settings you get with Chrome
Classic features missing, like content blocking
    Sync seems to be abandoned

    Summary

Basically they have turned their backs on what made Opera Opera. This coming from a fanboy since version 3.x. This is nothing more than a skinned clone of Chrome. Move along Opera is dead, nothing to see here.

"Opera 18 Browser Is The New Chrome"

    December 6, 2013  |   By stlcorie

    Version: Opera 18.0.1284.49

    Pros

Its the new Chrome. New bookmark/speed dial feature. Looks good, slick design, fun features.

    Cons

Its the new Chrome. New bookmark/speed dial feature. Can't find settings or info on how to find settings.

    Summary

Don't bother to upgrade to 18, stay with Opera 12.15 or earlier. It's just not worth the headache.
