    "Not working!"

    July 15, 2013  |   By lilygirl2

    Version: OpenOffice.org 3.4.1

    Pros

    only worked once

    Cons

Says that it's compatible with windows 8 but when I runt the compatibility test it says it's incompatible. It also won't open some files, it just seems to hang and then I have to reboot my computer. Really frustrating that there's no info about how to fix it on the community forums!

    Summary

    Very badly needs this fixed!!!

"Great product or the money ... but"

    June 10, 2013  |   By lyama

    Version: OpenOffice.org 3.4.1

    Pros

Free to use, doesn't utilize large hard drive footprint and it's a good alternative to the pricey MS Office packages.

    Cons

After numerous re-installs, the application still crashes, especially the word processor.

"awesome, easier than the new MS Office, and FREE!"

    May 27, 2013  |   By KristenWithaK

    Version: OpenOffice.org 3.4.1

    Pros

    Number one pro: It's free!!!
Number two: It works and seems really bug free
I've been using Open Office sporadically for a few years, but I now find it much easier to use than the newer versions of MS Office, so on my newest laptop I never even bothered getting the MS Office Suite because this one is free and does everything I need it to. If you are smart enough to turn on your computer, you are smart enough to figure out how to use this awesome software for creating various kinds of documents. I'm not really sure what to write about this and how others will use it, but I use Open Office for spreadsheets in place of Excel and I use their text documents for writing out long emails that I don't want to lose mid-sentence online. It has all of the same basic features that Word does, only its easier to figure out.

    Cons

I can't really think of any cons to this program. I have always been 100% happy with Open Office. I would pay for this. Even if it was not free I would use this over MS Office.

    Summary

    "Apache OpenOffice Base is junk"

    May 9, 2013  |   By gyprat801

    Version: OpenOffice.org 3.4.1

    Pros

Works great as long as your not using large databases in Base

    Cons

Base does not like large databases.

    Summary

Older OpenOffice works better with Databases. Use 3.3 for all databases.

    "A love-hate relationship"

    May 5, 2013  |   By ok4mi2

    Version: OpenOffice.org 3.4.1

    Pros

Right of course, it is a wonderful, fully featured and all encompassing suite. It is not the first time I have made the download. Over the years, through various versions, I have downloaded, used awhile and uninstalled the program. No doubt I will do the routine over and over for the foreseeable future. I use it and decide it takes up more space and resources than I judge worthy of it, and so I uninstall it and use some other programs for the while until I feel the urge to have that suite of dreams vacationing on my hard drive again.

    Cons

Some times it seems to have conflicts in formatting which become permanent. More of that story another time. It is kind of a large program and almost seems to want to exist as a suite rather than stand alone units. It should, it does, but yet it somehow ends up wanting the whole family around. More than I can eat at the buffet!

    Version: OpenOffice.org 3.4.1

    Pros

All of the functions work well. Perfect for kids and most of us who don't care about it being MSFT.

    Cons

    I really couldn't find any.
