"Good but replaced by libreoffice"
Version: OpenOffice.org 3.3
Pros
reads and writes msoffice formats
Cons
Deprecated. Replaced by libreoffice.
Summary
While openoffice remains in the public domain you'll notice this version is more than a year old. Development of openoffice has all but stopped since Oracle ceased development and support. A fork of the project called libreoffice (also available on download.com) has replaced it. Further development will continue there. New users interested in a free MS office substitute or past users looking for updates should look to libreoffice.

"It's really good."
Version: OpenOffice.org 3.3
Pros
So many things can be done with this program, it is great.
Cons
The only problem and it is not really a problem, is that it takes so long to load and be ready for use.

"Open Office good but not best."
Version: OpenOffice.org 3.3
Pros
Writer - Good as MS Word and better in some aspects such as rendering graphics in a document and printing them out; Calc - similar to Excel but not quite as easy to use. Other modules unused. Best of all it is priced right since it is open source.
Cons
Large single documents may create a problem. I've an 86 page document that I cannot open any longer than a few seconds before it crashes - recovery program loops and report function only generates more loops. Unable to "repair" writer, downloaded and reinstalled but no relief - document still still crashes. Real live help not available. Have not had any other problems with Open Office to this point.
Summary
Open Office is a great suite of programs. I like the "open source" concept. But one must also be cautious and willing to work through their methodology and service issues.
Highly Recommended with reservations. -

"great alternative for office suite"
Version: OpenOffice.org 3.3
Pros
It is still lacking of something.... but still a very useful program
Cons
it is more complicated and not to convenience also. It is very slow to open a document in windows 7,...
Summary
consider that it is free, I think this is a great program, you can use it for your simple and ordinary working tools. Although it;s going to make you frustation sometimes, but just consider it as a challenge :D
-
"hmmm... not very good"
Version: OpenOffice.org 3.3
Pros
free..........
Cons
well, you get what you pay for. they say it's compatible with word documents and excel and all that but they are only half right. some of it pops out right but there are a lot of strange symbols or incorrect formatting. Kind of buggy and the ui is not neat. pdf conversion plugin for draw is slow. In fact, this isn't much faster than office 2010
Summary
I suppose if you are doing simple things then this might work for you. it might be good for windows xp users cuz it doesn't use up lots of resources. But if you got a good computer I recommend ms office, that is much easier to use.
