Version: OpenOffice.org (Intel) 3.0
"Thank you! Freedom from MS at last!"
Pros: It isn't Microsoft is it?Lots of functionality. And it works on MAC too.
Cons: For a person with not a lot of computer skills I find it quite difficult to get a handle on some of the functions.

Version: OpenOffice.org (Intel) 3.0
Pros: Saw a new starter button, also compare to other SW - in Java. Same PC. Disappointment. Same spreadsheet took about five times longer to run through the calculations. Truth be told; however; it is much improved on what I downloaded a year ago.
Cons: It is not entirely intuitive and Sun will know what I mean since being part of the open community they should know about the Commodore Amiga A500. First PC I bought in High Street with 4096 Colours, WorkBench windows (Desktop) and a mouse in 1987.
Summary: The extensions for formatting is a huge improvement. I understand Sun's possible reluctance to do everything themselves, but if there is no concerted direction in effort, open source, gratis software will remain a mite. read more

Version: OpenOffice.org (Intel) 3.0
Pros: Great interface! Opens all MS Office files and can save in MS Office formats--can even set as the default format for all files. The features and tools are excellent. Price is right (free!).
Cons: None, with the release of 3.0. (Note: Have not used the database module enough to comment)
Summary: OpenOffice 3.0 is a true rival to MS Office, and in some aspects is even more powerful. It is fully customizable and the programming is all open-source. I have been using OpenOffice nearly exclusively for more than four years now--I love it! read more

"Open Office is the Office for me!"
Pros: This does everything that I need it to do. I could not see spending the money to upgrade my old MS Office 2000 which was not letting me install it on my laptop. I love OpenOffice, There is no reason to spend the extra dollars which I don't have.
Cons: I haven't had this program very long. So far there are no cons.
