Version: Online Armor Free 3.5.0.49
"Excellent choice for a free firewall"
Pros: Program access permissions can be easily changed, tray icon shows inbound/outbound activity, pop-up dialogs when new or changed programs access internet
Cons: Pop-up ad when program updates, does not stealth all ports in ShieldsUp! test
Summary: Online Armor Free is the best firewall I've ever used, & I've used a few including ZoneAlarm Free. When a new program tries to access the internet, a pop-up dialog comes up asking if you want to allow or deny the program internet access, as well as a "set it & forget it setting" & a setting to prevent dialogs from appearing during installations. It is easy to change a program's permissions from within the program, & the program comes with some extra non-firewall features as well. The firewall does not pass the ShieldsUp! test, as some ports appeared as closed instead of stealth when I tested it. The program's tray icon also shows inbound & outbound internet activity. Overall, I give the program four of five stars, & I recommend it as an alternative to other firewall programs such as ZoneAlarm Free which could conflict with other programs & which could be less secure (Online Armor Free scored a 99% in Matousec's Proactive Security Challenge.)
