"TERRIBLE Technology & Service - DOES NOT work with Tivo"
Cons
I spent over $1000 on Tivos and the service to go with, plus a subscription to OTM so I could easily share my home movies with my family across the country. Despite what their web site says, if you have bought a HDD camcorder in the last year, they DO NOT have a codex to support the MPEG format that all HDD's record in. I have a Hitachi HDD camcorder and tried to upload the files. It saved to the service just fine, but when I went to play it and when my family got it via Tivo, ANY motion in the video (e.g. people moving or camera panning) causes a horrible "strobe effect". The moving objects literally flash. So...I bought ANOTHER camera that records in Quick Time (.mov). And, yet again, despite what their web site says, .mov DOES NOT work with their service. Every attempt to upload is met with an error message from their site saying that the file is in an "incompatible format". As with any problem, I have emailed their support address multiple times and have been waiting since NOVEMBER for resolution. Each time I get a reply that they will "be in touch soon". WHAT A JOKE!!! Save your money!

This is an update to my original review. So...FINALLY, after sending yet another follow up email to their customer service address and including a link to this review, I got a response. THEY CANCELED MY MEMBERSHIP!!! Because I demanded they support the product I paid for and I dared to express my opinion and displeasure at the lack of support I was getting, they simply tossed me out. The email from "Brian" with their customer support didn't even offer details or reasons. Not "We have tried to fix the problem, but have encountered uncorrectable issues". Nothing about "We have looked in to the issue and have found that it is simply cost prohibitive to fix." No, nothing like that which I would have respect and understanding for. Instead, I simply got a two sentence email saying (and I quote) "Your account has been canceled. Please respond to this email with an address to send a refund check for $39.99 for your year's subscription." This is beyond unreal! To have a company basically say with their actions "We will take your money and offer you zero support in exchange. And if you encounter a problem and even think about speaking up, we will shut you off like a light"...is outrageous to say the least. With a philosophy like this, I can't imagine that they will be in business much longer.
