"Seems fine"
Version: OmniWeb 5.5.2 beta 3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've only been using this for a day or so and have yet to have a problem with any sites I have visited. It also has been stable. I think its worth a try and if it gives you any problems you can always delete the application. I recommend giving it a try. -
"I Don't Have Time"
Version: OmniWeb 5.5.2 beta 1
Summary

OmniWeb has several innovative features, renders CSS and XHTML well. It's also buggy, glacially slow, and incompatible with many websites. There are workarounds for most issues, but doing so taxes one's time and patience. -

"Links will now be forced into Tabs if specified to do so"
One of the major annoyances with omniweb finally fixed! -
"Great Browser!"
Version: OmniWeb 5.5
Summary

I've been using OMNIWEB for three years and this is the best release thus far! A sophisticated and, the only truly professional browser for the Mac Community! Stable, secure, fast and complete: you don't need anything else for surfing the Web on your Mac! -
"Compatibility issues"
Version: OmniWeb 5.5
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Omniweb is rather quick and easy to use but many pages are incompatible with it! Camino has Camitools which allows you to tell web sites which browser you are using (i.e., IE when you are really using Camino). To be useful, Omniweb needs to improve these compatibility issues. -
"Now my main browser"
Version: OmniWeb 5.5
Summary

First, this release is the same as RC1 in all aspects except version name.
Though it admittedly has a few odd bugs, I feel it has been both worth the wait and worth the money to buy Omniweb if the web forms the core of what you do on your computer every day. What issues remain are mostly small, however every time I've sent in a bug report, I've received a worthwhile response from Omnigroup.
Though the most noted features of the browser, such as the visual tabs and workspaces are of subjective value, if you're like me and need to manage large interactive web sites by keeping many tabs open at once, the little details, like being able to change the size of the tab bar and drag the tabs between windows (and windows between workspaces) as well as the saved workspaces, are a Godsend.
Crazy as it seems, Omniweb also has a manual available, which could be worth the read so as to get the most out of the browser itself.
It's worth noting that very old prefs, if you've been through 5.1 then all the betas, should be deleted for best results, as old prefs can cause erratic behaviour.
As to whether it's worth paying for a web browser, you have to ask yourself what it's worth to you to have a browser that acts the way you want it to and has everything Omniweb does. -
"Almost converted..."
Version: OmniWeb 5.5rc1
Summary

I've also tried several versions of this browser over the last couple years. I really like the feature set and now I'm seriously considering making it my main browser. They have fixed some of the issues I've had with it (i.e. pages used to print tiny no matter what options you selected). The other major annoyance still hasn't gone away. For some reason (one Omni can't even figure out) the Favorites portion of the bookmark menu randomly disappears and doesn't come back. I emailed Omni and they said they've gotten reports of it but have not been able to duplicate it. They said they thought it had something to do with importing bookmarks. Apparently the bug isn't limited to imported bookmarks. I started with the default Favorites bookmarks and added the ones I have in Safari within OmniWeb itself. Had the same problem. Aside from that major annoyance, I really love OmniWeb and I'll probably shell out the dough once it goes GM. -
"A viable alternative!"
Version: OmniWeb 5.5 beta 3
Summary

I must have tried every version of Omniweb over the years, but I never could justify the price given that it really didn't add anything important in comparison to other browsers - at least for me. This is the first time I keep going back to Omniweb since the beta came out, leaving Safari cold in the Dock (for now). I am not a web developer and my requirements really are the general productivity requirements of the average user: speed and accuracy. I cannot comment on compatibility given the length of this trial, but I have not encountered any problems so far. Speed-wise, it "feels" slightly faster than Safari on my Mini Intel Duo. Nice snapshot function in the tab window. Not sure if, given the price, this is a keeper for me -- time will tell -- but it's certainly worth trying out! Recommended to all users. -
"wow!"
Version: OmniWeb 5.5 beta 2
Summary

I bought Omniweb a couple of years ago, and while it was good, I let it fall by the wayside as better and better Safari's arrived. For the past two years I really used only Safari, with an occasional foray into Firefox... but then it was back to Safari again.
On a whim I decided to check this latest version out, and I'm greatly impressed. It's fast; (like the previous version)offers great features not found elsewhere; seems darned stable to me; and may, in fact, be worth the bucks.
If you're like me, (tried it a while ago, and wandered elsewhere) I'd suggest that you give OmniWeb another go... this is looking really superior... -
"Safari is so old-shcool after using Omniweb beta 2"

I have been a long time Safari user.... it's Good but not Great.
I have tried Firefox - And as we all know, It slow, un-Mac like and buggy.
Used Camino from time to time, but it just doesn't give me any of the features I would like when browsing the web.
last night I come across a forum tell everybody about some of the new features in Omniweb, went to the omniweb web site and downloaded the new Beta 2. Well I ended up buying a copy about one in the morning after just falling in love it! It has just about everything I need, plus some (I'm not going list them) and is just as fast as Safari if not faster! It fills a lot faster, but that might be because I just started using it. And now that it is using the same core as Safari, it should work with most of the same site as Safari, if not, just let them know so they can work on it. But so far I have tried about 300 different sites and they all work! Any way, I know most people don't wont to pay for a web browser, but You have got to download this new beta and for just one day, try it out and see what you think about it!
PS: It all filled in all of my forums and passwords just like Safari! Man that saved me a lot of time having to look them all up again.
