"Comprehensive, customisable range of Growl alerts."
Version: OmniGrowl 4.3
Pros
Makes many applications far more useful by briefly popping up essential information while you work on something else. Superb user support.
Cons
Many, many settings and can be a little complex at first.
Summary
Harnesses Growl's less obtrusive alerts to provide a range of useful information at a glance, when you need it. Allows me to work without flicking back and forth to check appointments or other information. Highly configurable to ensure you get the information you need.

"OG 4.0.3 convinced me"
Version: OmniGrowl 4.0.3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I had downloaded OmniGrowl long ago and tried it. I had never seen a need for it. But, I know my use and practices change from time to time so when I saw the OG 4.0.3 update announcement. I immediately was impressed. I like the fact that I get Woot and MacZot change notifications as well as the local (2 miles away not 15 or 50) weather but what really convinced me is when it was installed, it checked the CNN newsfeed for me. It great that I can customize the RSS feed for some less well known feeds. It now means I don't have to feel bad about not buying two or three applications that I wanted but was always putting off buying. RE: GeekTool comment. I had not heard of GeekTool before that comment and was interested because I wondered what that issue was all about. It made me read the comments section and go off to find the GeekTool site. -

Very pleased with it & sent the Developer my $ to register.
Preference window bug has been fixed.
I love Growl and this integrates very well with it as well as with some of your more popular Mac apps.
I look forward to seeing more apps working with Growl, and thus even more uses for OmniGrowl in the future! -

Just discovered Growl and looked for all the notifiers I could find. This one is a gem. It works just as the developer says it does and it is a great addition to iCal. -

the cmd-, on startup just doesn't seem to work. i hit it after i double-click the icon, i get finder prefs over and over.
better idea: implement this as a preference panel and let us set it up there. -
"Potentially invaluable ..."

Unlike the poster below, my copy of OmniGrowl installed without a hitch, and things are mostly working. The iCal notifications have a formatting problem, though -- the icon obscures the text -- and for some reason I can't make the news notifications "sticky," so they disappear before they can be read. So I think this still needs a bit of work, but there's lots of cool potential here. -
"Bug?"

I had a problem in that after I installed this preference pane I could not eject the disk despite quitting all applications and removing it from "accounts" pref pane. Even happened after restart.
