"Works a treat on my newborn"
Version: Ocean Waves 1.4

This piece of (well priced) software has done the trick for my 2 week old son. We leave it playing for him while he sleeps, and it seems to calm him wonderfully. It's much easier to put him down at night, too
Works on parents as well :-) 5 stars. -
"Longtime happy user"

I've been using Ocean Waves for perhaps two years now, often turning it on when I'm winding down in the evening or leaving it on a 90 minute timer when I go to sleep. It is possibly the perfect versiontracker application - simple but featureful, unobtrusive, stable, actively maintained, and reasonably priced.
I've registered a number of good applications, but I've gotten hundreds of hours of use out of this one for pennies. Try it. -
"Superb"

I've been using Ocean Waves now for 3 months. I've tried many ocean-sounding audio over the past few years, from purchasing those white noise machines, to CDs, to other Mac apps. This is the finest one out there. As others have noted, every other one had a loop, and your ear would eventually pick that up. Not so with this app. I listen to it in the background while I work and write, for hours and hours on end, and I've yet to detect any looping, or sense that I was not listening to actual waves.
Highly recommended. If you need to get work done, this is the best $6 you'll spend this month!
(and no, I'm in no way connected to the creator.) -
"As a person who lives near the ocean"

I am usually disappointed by this type of thing, but it is well done and very soothing - I instantly liked it. No, it isn't truly realistic, but set everything to different intervals, turn down the volume a little, and it's close enough for $5. Best of all, its not a repeating loop. -

Sounds very realistic to me. The person who complained it sounded like static should possibly see an otolaryngologist :) -
"Really Nice"
Version: Ocean Waves 1.1
Summary

I've been using this program for a while now and find it very enjoyable. The sound of the waves rolling in onto the shore--albeit "digital waves" onto a "digital shore"--are very realistic-sounding to me. I use the little app quite often, but especially if I am having trouble falling asleep. That is where I find it most helpful, but it's also excellent to use when meditating, too. Basically, whenever you want a little distance, or a buffer zone, between yourself and the outside world, just upload an hour of ocean waves to your iPod, pop in your earbuds and be whisked away to a sun-drenched Hawaiian beach. It does the trick for me! -
"Good start"
Version: Ocean Waves 0.8

Could use some more variety, especially in simulating the sound of water crashing against rocks, rippling pools, etc. Overall, sounds pretty good but is too 'uniform' to sound realistic. Nice stereo effect. Great options for starting/stopping sound. -
"Nice desk accessory"

This is a nice little ap. Uses approx 10% CPU resources on my AL PB 1.25GHz 15 inch.
Now if the developer could make a beach babe appear as real life as the sound, I'd happily pay a bit more than $5 for the pleasure. I wouldn't want her to be shareware, however.
Developer has no policy for upgrades as he marches toward a stable 1.0 or better version. Registered for life?
