"Loaded with Malware, DO NOT INSTALL!!"

    August 30, 2012  |   By PBMpharmacist

    Version: ObjectDock 2.0

    Pros

    None, simply none

    Cons

Installs AVG Search Malware without asking permission. Had to reimage my hard drive to get it off.

    Summary

Don't do it. Walk away and save yourself! I would have been screwed if I didn't image my computer regularly. Try Winstep Nexus Dock instead.

"Worst dock I have ever tried"

    August 18, 2012  |   By wolf_emperor

    Version: ObjectDock 2.0

    Pros

    None that I saw

    Cons

It slows down your computer, installs a toolbar without asking, and is very hard to get it to work. The customization is hard to figure out and I couldn't even get it the way I wanted, the weather docklet didn't even load correctly and none of the Images even loaded correctly, they all appeared as ? even the recycle bin! Don't use this there are better docks out there, even the windows 7 dock is better than this.

    Summary

Use rocket dock, it does all this dock does, is faster, and doesn't infect your computer with files you don't want to download.

"Slows down your computer and injects a Troian in it!"

    August 11, 2012  |   By mauron76

    Version: ObjectDock 2.0

    Pros

None that I can find seen all the cons I gave below!!!
Now, sincerely, ObjectDock does offer a few interesting tools but not enough to be convincing at all...

    Cons

    - completely slows down your PC and uses soooooo much memory that it looks ridiculous to any sensed person...
    - several bugs after installing it...
    - very hard to uninstall! DO USE "REVO UNINSTALLER" and let it do several scans to make sure that no file belonging to ObjectDock remains on your computer and endless disturbs it!...
    - when installing it, as a "welcome" or a "present" from Stardock laboratories, you will get a horrible Adware or a Troian on your computer!...

    Summary

On Win7, this ObjectDock is fully unnecessary seen that you can pretty well custom your desktop toolbar! You can even put it on top of your screen and choose plenty of programms to put it it. And you can also choose the colour you want on this automatical Win7 desktop toolbar. So why bother with unnecessary heavy and insecure tools such as ObjectDock?! Just leave it!

    "Adequate "quick launch" replacement"

    May 29, 2012  |   By bblackmoor

    Version: ObjectDock 2.0

    Pros

ObjectDock is an adequate replacement for the "quick launch" in Windows XP, but is pretty useless for Windows 7, as it duplicates some but not all of the functionality of the Windows 7 taskbar.

    Cons

StarDock's ObjectDock is missing a great deal of everyday functionality that users rely on in the Windows 7 taskbar, so you'll still need to run that if you have ObjectDock. The problem is, the only new feature ObjectDock adds is the "zoom" on the taskbar icons. That's not worth missing access to all of the functionality that the normal taskbar provides.

The worst missing feature is lack of system tray support, which even the full pay version of StarDock's ObjectDock does not have. It cost me $5 to find that out, because the ObjectDock site LIES and says it does have system tray support, and then they only refunded 75% of the purchase cost when I complained about the missing feature and the false claim on their web site.

    Summary

The software itself would get 2, maybe 3 stars. It does very little, it's pretty redundant with the taskbar, and there are too many things it doesn't do, but what it does do, it does pretty well. However, the poor customer support from StarDock and the false claims in their feature list for the pay version peg this product at 0.5 stars (and I'd give it zero stars if that were an option). Stay away from StarDock: they are snakes.

    "Hello Clutter free Desktop"

    April 17, 2012  |   By justinkorff

    Version: ObjectDock 2.0

    Pros

Drag and drop for adding or removing Icons is very handy frees up 99% of the desktop giving a great minimalist feel.

    Cons

Would have liked quick launch icons imported as well in free version also cant completely move recycle bin to dockbar but that's more a windows shortfall.

    Summary

    Minimalist perfection. Love IT

    "versatile and fun"

    April 11, 2012  |   By itsmeliz

    Version: ObjectDock 2.0

    Pros

The app is fun, especially if you are someone who fidgets or like to experiment with their creativity. The capability is there to totally remodel your desktop - including using built in features to move the task bar and tray onto docks and hide the default ones. Icons can be PNG or the traditional ICO. A PNG icon is easier to work with to create (or download from WinCustomize.com) custom icons to use to create useful and aesthetic arrangements.

I have separate "tabbed" docks that sort programs by type. Graphics, Office, Internet, and so on. I have a single "zoomer" dock that my most used applications are ready at my mouse click. I don't have to open the start menu and locate the program I want. There is a small zoomer bar with scaled icons that have a select few text and graphics programs that I use often. This includes some helper ones that I open and close frequently.

    Cons

A common problem is installation (no shortcuts - do it the right way to avoid problems) and a learning curve that slows first time users. In the past I have had problems with the docks keeping their initial configuration, especially the chosen icons. With 2.0 that seems to have gone away. Now, to me, the most nagging problem is finding enough new docks and icons to keep up with my constant need to fidget.

    Summary

The docks can completely eliminate any need to use the Windows menu system. File management is at fingertips and applications where you expect them - always ready.
