Nvu for Mac User Reviews

"Although the program looks like a fine HTML editor, it is very unstable on Tiger"
Version: Nvu 1.0
Pros
Many useful features and ability to edit in wysiwyg or html.
Cons
- Unstable and crashes/hangs often on a Tiger machine. Sometimes it just locks up, sometimes I get stuck on normal mode and cannot leave it. Several times, it just crashed.
- JavaScripts do not display in normal mode.
- No clean up text feature ( when I imported a file, some html text was so far to the right that it didn't display on my 20" Mac).

"Not Useful"
Version: Nvu 1.0
Pros
Easy install and uninstall.
Cons
Sometimes when you skip a line on a page when writing text, it is not visible after you send this page by FTP program on the web and no matter what you do you can not correct this.

"Intuitive, free website creation application"
Version: Nvu 1.0
Pros
You can create websites quickly and easily with this application. It offers intuitive design options, and even keeps a few more advanced tools under its hood. Offers a solution for anyone who doesn't want to spend hundreds of dollars for a web authoring program. It's a bug-free pleasure to use.

"This Mac version just like PC version? Hum, what a concept!"
Version: Nvu 1.0
Pros
Calling all Dreamweaver hacks back into the daylight, Nvu provides power and freedom. Easy from newbs to pros. I'm staying on top of this one.

"Very nice"
Version: Nvu 1.0
Pros
The install worked flawlessly, as does most MAC OSX installations. Simply drag the nvu.app to the application folder and you are done.
The program works great. It assumes you are editing in WYSIWYG although it works just fine using the tabbed source code as a text editor. The included CSS editor is very flexible and available, although I haven't tested this in depth. Same with the javascript section.
The included HTMl validator is nice for checking existing code.
Performance was fine on my G4 Ibook. Couldn't expect anything better for personal use.
Cons
Could us a PHP editor although this is picky.

"It's not bad for a new one"
Version: Nvu 1.0
Pros
Fairly easy to use, simple layout, doesn't take too long to load (compared to Dreamweaver). Doesn't have as much options, but it's free!
Cons
Doesn't run well on slow machines (used an eMac 700mhz, 10.3.7, crashed often) and needs a bit of ram. Faster machines might experience better performance.

"Crashes on launch in Tiger..."
Version: Nvu 1.0
Pros
None...
Cons
I could not get the product to launch without it crashing.

"It pays to read the "read-me""
Version: Nvu 1.0
Pros
IMPORTANT WARNING
=================
Do **not** run Nvu directly from the disk image (the *.dmg
file you just opened) or you will experience a never-ending loop.
Please copy the Nvu icon in that disk image to your /Applications
directory and run Nvu from there. Thanks.

"RESET MY MAC"
Version: Nvu 1.0
Cons
I accidentally hit the wrong button during install and it started the "infinite loop" problem. Right after that, POW! my Mac reset everything including the Mail program, iCal, Safari, iTunes, everything. Don't use it!!!!
