"after two days i am going elsewhere"
Version: Nvu 1
Pros
pretty easy for a basic web page with no bells or whistles
Cons
start adding features and you may find that nvu can't hold up. for instance it is not possible to change a selection list's properties once you have set it up. OMG you had better get it right the first time... ugh
Summary
no way no how

"I'm confused. This product looks just like Kompozer."

Pros
Easy to use interface
Cons
Very buggy. Crashes easily. Cannot handle tables at all!!
Summary
OK for something that is free.

"A simple, but superb program and it's free."
Version: Nvu 1
Pros
Easy to learn, easy to use, easy to compose your own web pages and maintain them and it's free.
Cons
It hasn't been updated in a long time and it doesn't have a lot of fancy functions (like mouse-over and pop-ups), but you still get a wonderful program for free.
Summary
A wonderful program that is so useful. It has satisfied my needs for several years now. For my simple non-professional needs, I don't need any more features than this program has and it's free.

Cons

"It is great!"
Version: Nvu 1
Pros
Easy to use and you can not add much to that. It reminds me of the ease of use of the old Netscape Composer.
Cons
Good Question?
Summary
It is very simple to use and yet very powerful in it's presentation. Once you get the right settings for publishing set up it is a no brainer. I have been messing with Computers since 1987 and I built my first web site around 1995-96 and I like only Netscape Composer and Nvu. The rest are junk and the best part this is free. Check out my web page I built with Nvu.http://www.california.com/~hawk It is still in progress because my computer hard drive crashed and I had to restart the whole thing. I did lose a few pages. I also like Cute FTP for removing files off my site. This is from my own personal experience and I am not advertising anything. These are the programs I prefer!

"It's buggy"
Version: Nvu 1
Pros
It seems to be user-friendly and it's free
Cons
1. It's buggy.
2. it makes it hard to find all corresponding css settings for a particular html element to modify themSummary
1. The first thing NVU did when I opened a beautiful web template with it -- it turned all links into blue underlined words ( they were white, not underlined in the original template) without me consenting to it. In the preview tab they were also blue underlined, so it wasn't just "normal" view problem. And it wouldn't allow me to change them into a different color, to take off underline or even italic. Basically, it damaged the template.
2. CSS editor is almost like a separate thing. I haven't found any way to see/edit all css settings (including inherited ones) for an html element, making it rather hard and unpleasant to use for styling elements. -
"Good WYSIWYG and modern HTML, but can mangle the HTML"
Version: Nvu 1
Pros
Good WYSIWYG and modern HTML Ability to switch easily into direct HTML editing.
Cons
I found that between them NVU and KompoZer can badly mess up the format of any nice tidy HTML code. The preserve format option didn't seem to work properly, and sometimes it lost the entire header of my file.
Summary
See above. I would use it to create fragments of code using styles etc and then paste them in to the main file.

"Generates excessive redundant and extraeous html code,"
Version: Nvu 1
Pros
Easy to use, good user interface
Cons
Generates lots of redundant html code. Editing adds additional code to negate the effects or earlier code. Creates huge files for simple tasks, especially if you revise your site from time to time.
Summary
Fine for very simiple web pages that you don't plan or need to update from time to time. Not good for ecommerce sites if you need to modify your page from time to time as the code buildup gets to be extreme.
