"NovaBackup 13 bld 8 Software is primative & misleading"
Version: NovaBackup Professional 12.0.10
Pros
Getting backed up files onto CD's DVD's and Blu-Ray discs is somewhat easy.
Cons
Restoring files is frustrating, confusing, primative and (English) language on dialog boxes (DB's) is poor.
Summary
Today I restored 15 files to a Windows 7 machine that were backed up on a Windows XP machine. First I had to import the catalog, which required feeding in the 8 DVD's in the backup set. That took about 20 minutes. Other manufactures, and I believe NovaBackup (NB) at one time, store the catalog on the final disk in the set. That way you only need to import from a single disk. When I began restoring, NB opened a DB stating "Please insert a disk". Not a particular disk, just a disk. When it didn't find the files on that disk it asked for disk 1, then disk 2, then disk 3 etc. It scanned each disk in turn, looking for the files I had selected. It found them on disk 4. That took another 23 minutes. So the program is primative, obviously not making use of the catalog. While asking for disks it asked to insert disk 1 in the first half of the quiry and then what ever the next disk in sequence is in the second half.
I have the software loaded into 5 machines in my department. Three are XP machines and two are Win 7. Two of the XP machines have problems that will not allow the full stated features of the software to work. One of them has fatal bugs that will not allow a disaster recovery disc to be created. I have communicated with Nova Stor, which told me all of those problems have been worked out in version 13. This version [13] has problems running under Win 7, so I'm not so sure all of the problems are solved runing on Win XP. -
"Hard to backup, impossible to restore"
Version: NovaBackup Professional 12.0.10
Pros
Not mentioned any good reason to buy this softwere.
Cons
I tried to backup my files and window several time, only one time the backup is succeeded completely.
When my computer's HD crashed, I tried to restore the data but the program disappointed my by showing some error with the backup file.

"not usable"
Version: NovaBackup Professional 12.0.10
Pros
got a great review somewhere. that's why i bought it.
Cons
Usability is simply terrible. I killed my mouse and table trying to schedule two separate backup plans with different names. Try it yourself and be suprised how difficult it can be made...
Summary
i simply hate this product

"So easy even a 5th grader can use it!"
Version: NovaBackup Professional 12.0.10
Pros
File level and Disaster recovery in 1 - OMG this must be a mistake to have so much value in one license.
Cons
Does not allow for mail box level restore, but I don't get too many emails anyway since I am a bit old-school and most of my family still uses paper and pencil.
Summary
I feel a whole lot better knowing that I can rest assured that my backups are working as planned with no fluff in the software.

"Great Backup programme"
Version: NovaBackup Professional 12.0.10
Pros
Easy to use, relatively quick, full range of features. Restore is easy and flawless. Many different types of backups can be done, scheduling is a cinch. I used Windows 7 64 bit and had no problems installing. I am still on trial but on day 6 of 15.
Cons
The only problem I have had to date is when I try and do an email backup. It backs up Outlook files. I use Gmail as a default but from within Outlook. This can create problems with the email server as the files are stored in the "cloud" and not on my computer. If the server is busy, it will not back these up. That is a minor quibble as I could use my POP ISP email account and then the files would be saved on my computer and backed up without a problem
Summary
A really good product. A lot better than Acronis True Image that I had been using, but its lately not working nearly as well as it used to so I discarded it and will be paying for NovaBackup once the trial period is over.

"Version 12 - won't even install - NO SUPPORT AVAILABLE"
Version: NovaBackup Professional 12.0.10
Pros
Wouldn't know I can't get the software to install. Nor can I get ANYONE to respond or provide support. I can't post on the user forums becasue Admin hasn't 'spproved' me yet.
I will be fighting to get my money back on this.Cons
Won't install - clearly a bug in the installation wizard which spins for hours attempting to install an update for Windows XP or Vista - I'm on Windows 7. Don't think this software is Windows 7 comptable. I'm on a brand new computer and the system software is fully updated.
Summary
Don't bother with this one - it won't work on a new computer.

"Doesn't work as expected"
Version: NovaBackup Professional 12.0.10
Pros
The user interface appears pretty good. I like the idea of being able to copy or backup files. It appeared to at least execute the actions on the right schedule.
Cons
It doesn't work right. I paid for it unfortunately and have to have a successful backup or copy action performed. I consistently get errors saying 'Access denied, cannot copy XXX file' which is garbage.
Summary
Although it does copy and backup some files, I was never able to get it to copy or backup all the files that I needed it to, for instance my pictures. Don't waste your money.

"Version 11 Build 22 Junk"
Version: NovaBackup Professional 12.0.10
Pros
Works well once you have figures out the things you have to do to make it work the way you want it to.
Cons
Cannot do Disaster recovery. "Invalid File type" I was told I have to import the data file. You can not do that from the recovery disk.
I did several imports and can't find the imported file. It does not tell you the name or where it puts it.Summary
If it requires an upgrade to fix this problem. I refuse to pay them to fix their problem.
I'm going back to "Drive Image" -
"Over-hyped, substandard product"
Version: NovaBackup Professional 12.0.10
Pros
All-in-one interface for imaging, backup & copying to multiple destinations either FTP, network, local HDD or Amazon services.
Cons
FTP backup is useless because it HAS to be a full copy with overwrite every time, it cannot run differentially or intelligently. For any significant quantity of data this makes it useless.
Summary
Lots of pretty advertising, but when you get to the nuts and bolts the product is unstable, unreliable and unable to perform the basic tasks you want it to do. Very unimpressed.
