Version: NoteTab Light 4.95
"Great Replacement for Notepad"
Pros: It works perfectly well as a replacement for Notepad and adds a lot of worthwhile features, especially if you're a writer, which I am. I've been using it for a year and am thrilled with it.
Cons: None whatsoever.

Pros: Once I started using this program I couldn't even think of going back to Note Pad. The tabbed interface alone sold me on this product, but the text macros keep me coming back! I loved this program so much I paid good money to upgrade to the Pro version! Good choice!

"Great program - much better than Notepad or even Wordpad!"
Pros: Multiple documents displayed in only one window (tabs make it easy to switch back and forth), memory system remembers which files were used most recently and opens them again when program is reopened

Pros: Ive worked with notepad to design our site for years (musicfactory2.co.uk)
(I hate those stupid drag and drop programmes ie: Net Fusion - yuk)
But lately as we are expanding i needed to add a lot of code and scripts to the website pages, but alas, with Notepad (Microsoft) everytime i went to type i got that totally annoying pop up message...
""You have not enough memory to complete this operation""...grrrrrr!
Thankfully i came across your product today and i am typing loads of code in with no probs (Even extra code just because i can .. lol)

Version: NoteTab Light 4.95
Pros: Free, tabbed document switching, lots of features.
Cons: I'm an experienced and knowledgeable user, and Notepad Light tested my patience. It's a quirky and confusing program. I like a clean layout, and although you can get rid of most of NL's clutter, there is a pane on the left that I couldn't figure out how to turn off. I also wanted to change the default font, and rather than work through the menus I decided to use the help system index. Amazingly, the word "font" wasn't there.
One aspect of Notepad Light is even offensive. There is a an option to try the commercial features, and if you choose it, you're stuck with those features for a month - you can't turn them off. This creates more clutter and confusion for newbies, and if you become ready for those features at a later date, your opportunity is wasted. It's a user-hostile in-your-face thing to do, IMO.
Until now, Ive used Metapad, which is a great little free Notepad replacement, but I've recently felt the need for more. I'm now trying out Textpad, which also has tabbed document switching and other great features. You do have to pay for it to get rid of a brief startup nag screen when the trial is over, but it's a far friendlier program.
