CNET Editors' review
Once you explore the power of NoteTab Light, you may find this text editor beautiful despite its hectic interface. At its core, NoteTab Light is to Windows' Notepad as an iPhone is to a rotary phone. NoteTab Light incorporates top-level tabs similar to most Web browsers, so that you can manage several different projects at once, and it can automatically replace Notepad so that Notepad's icons open NoteTab instead--although not in Windows Vista.
However, it's more than a mere replacement. The left column displays a list of commands, called Clips, that do anything from inserting bits of text to generating code. Each library, the roster of which appears as tabs at the bottom of the screen, contains its own set of clips. The FTP library, for example, lets you create server profiles, connect, upload and download files, and issue various commands. The HTML library auto-completes HTML tags. The publisher's site offers many user-created libraries, or you can make your own. You can create your own clips by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F2.
Several of the clips, including the Tidy HTML clip and the TopStyle library, require secondary freeware apps to support them, but NoteTab will direct you to their Web pages if it finds them missing. NoteTab Light isn't a tool for casual users, but power users and programmers should find plenty to love.

"great program"
Version: NoteTab Light 5.61
Pros
lots of features, intuitive to use. I am not a power user but think a power user could zip along with the features that Notetab offers (I have the free version). I give 4 stars because I do not want ot pretend I have expertise but for my use I would say it is 5 stars worth of usefulness.
Cons
a spellchecker and xml functionality would be nice

"NoteTab Light is an excellent html editor."
Version: NoteTab Light 5.61
Pros
Even the free version of this software, Note Tab Light, is an excellent html editor. It includes a code complete function (HTML-ar) which insures all your code is compliant and has end tags. There are many more useful features. It is also a great improvement over Notepad which it can be substituted for.

"Powerful"
Version: NoteTab Light 5.61
Pros
I use it for writing mark-up language, still alot to learn about the program but up to now I'm very satisfied with it. I like the ability to have several files open at the same time.
Cons
There seem to be some spelling mistakes in the dictionary section.

"One of the few programs I missed from Windows"
Version: NoteTab Light 5.61
Pros
I tried - I really tried, to love the various text programs on linux, but they were either only moderately more powerful than notepad, or incredibly powerful, but (to me) unintuitive - none of them had the combination of power and ease I had with Notetab Light on Windows.
It's really easy to get real work done with Notetab.
Cons
It's windows only. I'd really like to see it ported to Linux. As I type this, I'm working on getting it to run under Wine, only the second program I've been desperate enough to run that way.
Wish me luck!
