"Do not play with windows registry!"

    July 27, 2012  |   By raju_thorat

    Pros

None. There are few but Cons are dangerous.

    Cons

My PC was in working condition. I was using Ccleaner since last 1 year. I thing Norton Utilities will make my PC better. But when I run registry defrag module and restarted PC I saw Blue Screen Error. It was impossible to start PC even in safe mode. When I used Windows 7 DVD to recover ,the System Restore was not working. Finally I formatted Windows Partition and restored PC using System Image Backup.

    Summary

Do not play with windows registry.

Norton utilities causes a blue screen of death when compact the registry. i found an easier solution at http://www.sevenforums.com/backup-restore/12152-system-restore-failed-2.html#post409456
Basically you rename and copy the old registry files that were backed so you don't lose anything. this happened on my laptop and Best buy Geek Squad had my computer a week and could not fix except doing a restore back to ground zero .... very ugly.
