    "Don't bother."

    August 29, 2015  |   By KhakiBelle

    Version: Norton Security 22.0.0.110

    Pros

    Decent product, easy interface.

    Cons

Service and website are terrible. I've tried to renew twice, and both times were horrible. The first time, I attempted to renew through my product. Went through the process, paid, and attempted to input the key I was given only to have it not work. After contacting customer service, I was told that the product no longer existed - even though I just paid for it. Customer service got it resolved eventually.

The second time, I tried over the course of about a week to purchase a renewal only to have their system tell me that it couldn't process a payment via paypal. I experimentally tried moving forward with an expensive upgrade, and lo and behold, it was ready to process that just fine. Contacted customer service about getting my renewal, and their response was basically 'don't know, can't help you, just give us your credit card instead.' If they can't even process paypal (unless you're getting an expensive upgrade), no way I was going to give them my CC details.

    Summary

Product is decent when and if you can get it working. UI in the product is OK when it's working. However, the customer service and website problems are unforgivable and not worth the headache. Spend your money elsewhere; Norton will just waste your time.

    "Can't Activate: Unable to Proceed"

    July 13, 2015  |   By Cypherdude

    Version: Norton Security 22.0.0.110

    Pros

    NONE, IT WON'T ACTIVATE.

    Cons

    THEIR LOUSY SOFTWARE WON'T ACTIVATE.

    Summary

    UPDATE:
After wasting over an hour trying to activate, posting questions on Symantec's forum, and using their tech support chat, their answer is to "uninstall/reinstall", pretty much the standard answer to everything. Now I must waste MORE time uninstalling their lousy software and reinstalling. Not only that, but I am going to lose ALL of the custom firewall settings I created in NIS.

DISABLE THE "AUTOMATIC UPGRADE" "FEATURE". OTHERWISE, THEY WILL MAKE *YOUR* LIFE A LIVING HELL.
    ------------------------------------
I bought a new key for Norton Security on Dec 2, 2014. I added the new key day before yesterday with NIS 2014 and everything worked fine, OK. I made the mistake of leaving the "automatically upgrade to new version" enabled. This morning NIS 2014 automatically upgraded to the latest Norton Security. Now I get an error message:
    "Unable to Proceed
We were unable to complete activation of your upgraded product. Try again by clicking Activate Now in the main window of your product. (-1010)"

    Before that it said:
    "Server error
We're working to resolve an issue that prevents us from completing your request. Try again later."

I have tried over 100 times to Activate but it won't work. Their job is to make your life a living hell if you install their software. Disable the "automatic upgrade" "feature". Otherwise, they will make YOUR life a living hell.

"Almost as hard to get rid of as an actual VIRUS!"

    January 21, 2015  |   By ganerd

    Version: Norton Security 22.0.0.110

    Pros

    good protection.

    Cons

It has an outrageous price hopping to convince others of a higher quality.
No free versions for poorer / disabled folks. If they were COMMITTED TO THE CAUSE (as AVG-FREE) rather than just money, they would have a free version.
To fully get rid of their annoying popups, you have to download an UNINSTALLER from Norton!?!?

    Summary

Unless you are just in the upper 2% income and like to throw away money, STAY AWAY!!! Don't even TRY it, because of which it will be impossible to uninstall.

"Hard to beat Norton !! .."

    December 24, 2014  |   By Randy Bell

    Version: Norton Security 22.0.0.110

    Pros

What people don't realize is how advanced and sophisticated this Symantec Security Suite is. There is pattern and signature-based, as well as the SONAR (heuristic) internet intrusion detection and prevention system - with traditional antiviral signatures and realtime guard. Norton does disk scanning in the background when the computer isn't in use, and is easy on resources with minimal CPU drain and light memory footprint. The Norton firewall is sophisticated and easy to use: in almost all cases, the user has to do nothing since the firewall creates automatic rules for each app. Downloads are automatically scanned and a popup at lower right of the screen tells you if they are safe: You can click on that and get details resulting from both antiviral scanning and crowd sourcing from Reputation in the vast Norton User Community. World Class! Of people bashing it, some are sadly misinformed as to the sophistication and protection offered by the most used Security Product in the world.

    Cons

IF anything, I guess Norton, as with any Security product, can improve their already excellent scores from independent Testing Labs.

    Summary

NO security product can protect users from their own reckless behavior and stupidity. But Norton is about as close to "set and forget" protection as they come. I highly recommend it - and if you Google for reviews on this product, you'll find some fair reviews that look into details of all the neat features packed into this popular security software. Choice of this type of software tends to be emotional, misinformed, and highly subjective. Sometimes users get burned because of their own mistakes and naive risk taking: Venturing onto websites they should not dare to go - expectiing their Security to protect them from themselves, when they need to exercise proper caution, regardless of Security. But for reasonably responsible users, there is no better protection than Norton, imho.

    "Absolutely the worst, hands down"

    December 18, 2014  |   By dagny.taggart.940

    Version: Norton Security 22.0.0.110

    Pros

    None, nada, zip, nothing

    Cons

The very worst in bloatware. Interferes with the performance of all applications. Could not wait to remove it from my brand new laptop and did so with great haste. Happily returning to malwarebytes and AVG. Wish I could give this product negative stars.

    "Taking Money for Nothing!"

    December 10, 2014  |   By majman1

    Version: Norton Security 22.0.0.110

    Pros

    None noted.

    Cons

    Slowed Machine.
    Website not user friendly.
    Misleading product options.

    Summary

Absolutely horrible product. Slowed machine, scans were either comprehensive and dreadfully slow or quick and horribly ineffective. Product was uninstalled and McAfee was reinstalled. Norton then continued to bill me for products that I wasn't using, even billing me for two separate accounts; I didn't even know that I had more than one. The website was never user-friendly in my opinion. When I called for a refund earlier this morning, I was denied refund on $106.00 that had unknowingly posted to my account 61 days from today. Norton has a, "60-day money back guarantee." The guarantee is fine, if I was using the product. I haven't used the product in over a year. Knowingly, I am to blame for not noticing the FIRST charge until the SECOND charge posted to my account. However, Norton is expecting me, and other consumers I am certain, to pay for a product THAT I DID NOT USE. Legal robbery! I WILL NEVER ATTEMPT TO USE NORTON PRODUCTS AGAIN! I hope that other consumers take note of this experience and don't as well!

"Beware of Misleading info or Bait and Switch."

    November 16, 2014  |   By blmazza

    Version: Norton Security 22.0.0.110

    Pros

Norton has been good product in past, it used to be the only one i would recommend!

    Cons

Symantec has not advertised or informed the customer about the differences between Norton Security and Norton Security with Backup. MAJOR difference is either 5 or 10 licences until you are at the check out. So as a warning, beware!

    Summary

Know what you are buying, and make sure this company Symantec does not take advantage of you!
