"TERRIBLE - do not use."
Version: Norton Removal Tool - SymNRT 2007.2.0.5
Pros
None, except maybe for Norton to force you to keep using their product.
Cons
BRAND NEW COMPUTER came bundled with Norton. Caused registry corruption. Caused random system reboots. Caused computer not to recognize all 8GB.
Restored to factory a number of times, and ultimately determined that the removal tool was the cause of the problems.Summary
Had to restore to factory and MANUALLY remove Norton (via control panel/uninstall), then search my hard drive for Norton and Symantec. Validated that the removal tool WAS the cause of the problems.

"Norton Gone"
Version: Norton Removal Tool - SymNRT 2007.2.0.5
Pros
After I went through the procedures, as directed, the Norton programs weren't to be found.
Cons
It seemed to take a higher number of steps than seemed to be necessary.

"I got it work, but it took some work."
Version: Norton Removal Tool - SymNRT 2007.2.0.5
Pros
Norton is gone!
Cons
Pain in the behind, and the fact we even need a tool to uninstall says it all.
Summary
Norton (Symantec) is the devil! I hate their company and will never buy anything related to it. As for this software It sucks, but I got it to work. (Sad you even have to go through this crap!) Anyway, I had to run msconfig and disable USC (User Account Control) which forces users that are part of the local administrators group to run like they were regular users with no administrative privileges. (stupid function) The reason I had to disable USC is the link that you need to click on after you arrive to the page stating "The version of Norton Removal Tool you are using has expired," (sheesh) kept telling me that I needed to sign on as administrator. (Duh, I am the admin and was signed on as such) Then I disabled my firewall. This tool only removes certain versions of which apparently came pre-installed on the machine I was cleaning up for a friend. What a mess... Good luck. (bovinedung)

"ONE MORE REASON TO HATE NORTON EVEN MORE"
Version: Norton Removal Tool - SymNRT 2007.2.0.5
Pros
Norton are the pros really in conning people.
Cons
Norton is too smart to allow you to remove it from your system. It will only remove Norton from your system if you have purchased a new version and enter the licensed serial number.
Summary
I still have pop-ups that don't allow me to use firefox and I know it's Norton's cheap gimmick in the name of Internet Security. I'm through with Symantec and will never purchase Norton Anti-Virus again. God, plese help me get rid of Norton!

"highly recommended to norton non-users"
Version: Norton Removal Tool - SymNRT 2007.2.0.5
Pros
completely removed all norton's pc resource, eg, ram, cpu, crunching application that's really taking its heavy weight toll on an old laptop serviced & total deletion of 'symtdi.sys' causing BSOD to normal system boot process for the umpteenth time!
Cons
absolutely none even if norton offered a good working link where an updated version to supersede an expired (yet existing?) removal tool/software;
Summary
norton's being fair enough to issue/publish such an indispensable removal tool/software to completely delete norton's application on any pc, eg, installed as an OEM bundled software;

"Works fine"
Version: Norton Removal Tool - SymNRT 2007.2.0.5
Pros
It thoroughly cleans norton out of your system.
Cons
none hat I'm ware of.
Summary
I owned three other computers that I eventually trashed and each one retained remnants of un-operable norton tools that continued to remind me of things that I could no longer execute because I refused to pay their outreagous prices then I was told that you can't get all of norton out of your system once it's installed then I ran upon this (as my newest computer had norton in it) and after uninstalling through conventional means I followed through with this removal tool and to date no pop-ups, no indications during system information and most importantly, no remnants in my registry.. It's a very good free product.
